I finally got mine completed. The Eheim 1250 was floating the media so I made a strainer and all seems well.
Is it normal to have the sulfur "bubbles" at the top? FYI I'm jusst running it with some water from my last water change.

Why is the sulfur media separated in the middle?

the first chamber is like a coil denitrator its has 50 ft of tube in it it then goes into the second chamber filled with lsm( there is a tube that empties in the bottom water travels up though the media empties out the top. the third chamber has arm and the water travels the same way. the fourth one has carbon. the water leaves each pipe out the very top

Is there a concern about sulpher leaching into the tank, especially one with a smaller water volume? And if there is leaching, what are some known effects?

hey salty, actually i WAS dosing vodka immedialely prior to putting this on the tank. it brought my nitrates from around 40-50 to maybe 20ish.
whats causing that? will it go away slowly?
i thought it was cuz my magnesium was low, that calcium precipitates out even at low calcium
i did test my mag with an old test kit, and got almost 1000. so i bumped it back up.
i hope i get this worked out soon!

Steve,
I'm using all 3.
Calcium and Alk levels are maintained by the reactor at Ca 420 and dkh of 8. All my topoff water goes through a kalk reactor as well.
Since adding the DJ Denitrator my Alk tends to drop to about 7 dkh every two weeks. I use Seachem Reef Builder (powder) to bring it up.
The calcium reactor only runs during my photoperiod. Between that and my Kalk reactor the tank maintains a healthy ph of 8.2.

Steve,
I am going to dose using a 2 part solutin to start. I don't have any coral in my tank yet. I want to make sure my water parameters are all in check for a month or so. I may go to a ca reactor down the road.
I think my next DIY is an auto top off.

A little complicated there![]()
Are you recirculating the water inside the sulfur container?
no gavity feed
How are u degassing?
no water leaves through the top
Are those caps removeable?
no you access through the bottom
how many liters of media are u using in the reactor?
i gallon lsm
How much water volume in your system?
225gal
What are your nitrate levels now?
100+ ro and test kit was bad at the same time
dj i originally had coil denitrators so i just converted them
The price is high, because you can make four from the acrylic you have to buy to make one. Tube 4"x60" 3/16" $106.00, 6"x60" $117.00 3/8"x24"x48" sheet $55.00. freckleface.comOriginally posted by 32flavors
Can those of you who have used acrylic for your reactor tell me how much it cost and where you got it? I really want to go the acrylic route but it seems REALLY pricey!
THANKS!
