DIY T5/LED pucks Hybrid light build thread

Correct. It manages any fluctuations and maintains a constant current. This is how I normally do my builds and it costs a fraction of what a Meanwell LED driver would cost, plus it gives me much more control. I will try to take a video of the whole sunrise/sunset mode with these new pucks and the T5s.

This is my current light schedule:

12:00pm to 12:30pm -Sunrise with blue channel (CH 1) only to 20%
12:30pm to 1:00pm - Ramp up channels 1,2 and 3 to 40% and channel 4(more white) to 30%
3:00pm to 7:00pm - T5 are on
9:00pm to 9:30pm - channels 2, 3 and 4 fade down for sunset effect. Channel 1 fade to 20%
9:30pm to 10:00pm - channel 1 fade to off

The fans are also connected to the controller and jump to 100% from the moment the first LED comes on to 30 minutes after to cool everything down quick.

Temperature wise, I was worried that these puck style LEDs would increase the temperature of the water more than my previous ones, but I actually noticed max temps or .5 degrees less yesterday. This could be due to many factors, but I will continue to monitor temp.

The next step is PAR measurements to see how these compare to my 3W LED build.
