I got a reading last night of 250.6 is that ok or high? I had to add 14 drops to have it change colors( If you have used this test kit before).. I am using the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Reef Master Liquid Test Kit. I was concerned about levels after the speaker spoke :-).... I also calibrated my ph meter and its reading correct now. My ph with lights on is 8.2 and with lights off it 8.1 .

Ozzy it might be those tiles you used for your frags that cause you to have such high ALK levels.
Remember ALK is a measure of hardness basically and if those tiles are new and not cured properly they could potentially be leaching into the water thus bumping your levels so high.

Coral sea pets happens to be one of my favorite stores, the owner is a hard core reef person, the store is small but if you have an eye for detail you will see what I am talking about.

Next time you're in there, ask them to kill the pumps and go to actinic-only over the lookdown tanks in the center. :D :D

I hate the cigarette smell, you've got a point there. on the other hand I do like the setup, each tank looks a little different lots of interesting macro algae and other neat creatures, you can only see this in very mature and stable tanks.
The main display tank have some amazing large older corals, that frogspawn is probably 1.5 feet cir. and the acro growth pattern is truly amazing, I am impressed every time I see that tank.
I believe Robbie bought that store from Adolph the owner and manufacturer of Naturereef products.
Frankly the size of the store don't bother me, over the years I have probably bought more corals from them than any other store only because how healthy they look and guess what most of them are still alive.
Again, This is just my personal opinion.
