Since you have the ceiling fan set to bring heat upward, I think if you put in some small exit fans to your addict it would help reduce the heat of the room.

Looks great so far!

Ha..ha...classic typo!

Thanks for all the nice compliments guys!

I think that fan is going to help a ton.
I don't actually have an attic, (though plenty of addictions :) ) so I think that's out for now...

Very nice setup. I like the light rack. The fans should help reduce the heat issue. I would change the bulb on your ceiling fan to something blue and use it as moonlight :D

I've been thinking about how to do the moonlights. I have a few options.
The first is exactly what you described, using the light fixture in the fan.
Years ago I had a blue GE "Party Bulb" in a socket on a dimmer that was controlled by my ACII as my moonlight. I could go that low tech and I bet it would work really well.

The other options I have are to build some led fixtures into the light rack, that would be simple and controllable by the RKE.
Lastly I could replace some of the bulbs in the track lighting that is already in the room (you can see it in the pictures above outside the track for the light rail) with something blue and use that as my moon....
So many options.

Unfortunately the work week has started so it's back to reality instead of playing with the tank for a few days, but the door should at least get put back this week and maybe next week we can get rolling on plumbing depending on how things go with orders and skip's availability.

Like the setup...should be pretty cool. I'd worry about that ceiling fan rusting out over time though (not that it really matters)

Needless, just wonderinfg, do they make a curved magnet of some type to clean the sides of the tank?

Yeah, if it rusts out it does and I replace it with something better suited for that environment.

I don't think I will need a curved magnet, a regular old magnet should function just fine. The curvature of the tank over that side is not extreme enough unless I got a giant magnet. At least, I hope so! I hadn't even considered that it would be an issue until you asked that...

Wow very cool setup! Very Japanese. Would you mind tell me or pm'ing me how much thos spot are-becuase I might just do the same thing!

300 each. I asked Jeremy at PA to bring them in for me, Won won't sell directly to the public.
LMK if you find any nicer looking spots in the US. I couldn't and I tried a little kind of hard.

I guess thats not that bad. Yeah I'm a HUGE fan of the japanese spots but they really hard to find in the US your the first I've seen

mwcahill: ha! I just posted a link here. Woops.

stunreefer: thanks man, appreciate the nice feedback.

Giga: Yeah, I mean it's pretty pricey for something that realistically isn't my main lighting, but this is no ordinary tank I'm going for and I thought the investment in something a little spectacular was worthwhile. We still don't know if the utility is there, a few more weeks until we get some water in this baby and then we can figure out if it was a worthwhile investment.

I think what's most interesting (at least to me) is that with a tank like this, it's more than just the animals I'm keeping that are important --- there is a whole "experience" that I'm trying to create. I certainly don't want to down play the corals and fishes importance they are still the primary driver, but aesthetic of the tank and equipment as well as the engineering of the whole thing are big factors as well. It's a very different type of build for me in that regard.

I like them so much that I might just get 2 of them for my 30 gallon. The only thing can you measure them for me. How long they are(from the reflector to the end of the round back part-not the arm) and how wide the reflector is?

Both of your measurements are just a hair over 6"

LMK how it works out for you if you do decide to go for it.

very nice start! Ive never seen a round tank before so this should be really cool!

Corndork2, thanks man. I'm pretty excited (obviously) I'm really hoping that the round has some true advantages like allowing the tangs to swim for miles at a time like they might when they were in the ocean... I'm sure it won't but one can dream :)

One of the more interesting tank builds I have seen. Looks nice so far and good luck.

Dadekster, I'm flattered. There are some interesting things here, but it's nothing compared to what some of these guys go for, I'm constantly humbled by so many of the tanks and builds here.

I really like the light rack. The spots are going to make a very unique tank.

KRASHPD, always good to hear from the locals :) The rack came out pretty sweet, I'm pleased with it and the spots are OK. They are not exactly what I want but I'm working on enhancements to get them there before there is water in the tank :)

Once it's up and running I'll invite the locals over for beer and a viewing.

This looks like it is going to be great..
erics3000, thanks! Keeping my fingers crossed that you're right!

It's tough not getting to really do much during the week on the tank. I'm ready to get going. I'm hopeful Skip and I will be able to bang out a few things in the fish room this weekend but it won't be anything sexy like putting the plumbing in and filling it up!

I don't know how you guys that build tanks for a YEAR can do it....
