I am quarentining a gold nugget marron that I got from ORA.
I am doing TTM with prazi now and I see him laying in the bottom of tank, he has been eating and when I get close to the tank he swims but when I get away he lays in bottom like if he was dead or sleeping. is this a normal behavior??

thanks a lot

I got this type of clownfish before. They stay active if I'm around or anything that can interest them (mostly feeding). He didn't last long. By long I mean two years. They would eventually stop eating and die (he would want to eat but couldn't swim right anymore). All other clownfish I got that can "œstay floating" correctly are still alive.

But yours might be a different case. I'm no expert.

any structure in your QT or barren, piece of PVC even might reduce his stress level and show you different level of activity

Usually a sign of disease or stress. My recommendation would be to keep feeding more frequently and maybe increase temp slightly, in case its parasitic disease. Check water parameters, maybe add another water change if parameters are off. How did the intro go? I can't say that I had much luck with clowns lately, carried in a disease (viral, maybe parasitic to the nervous system), they also did lay on the side a lot before they died. One of mine did wax/wane for a month, still didn't make it. Maybe you have more luck though.
