Do Clownfish or any fish have memories

Although my Mandarin, Munch, gets along fine without supplemental feeding, I like to give him a little extra. There's a very low flow area in the back right-hand corner and he goes to that spot and waits for me to feed him there. The rest of the mob has to be distracted elsewhere for this to work, but he obviously "remembers" where the dinner table is set.

My 2 fighting conchs do that. Once a week or so when I feed the fish, they head to their feeding corner & wait for me to put algae on a rock for them. If I forget, they trudge off until next time I feed, then they book it back to their corner really fast with their hopes up LOL.

I've never neted any of my fish, but they're scared of it anyway.

I used to use the net to rinse frozen food before feeding. "So...net is friend." Then I had to catch a couple fish... "Net no longer friend..."

Excuse me for putting words in to match behavior. It is always fun to talk for animals who can't. What is weird is that I used the net to get the neon goby out of the overflow and back into the display tank with her mate, yet she still fears it, as does the mate. They both used to swim into it to be the first to the food.

I'm likeing all these little stories here. Use to breed discus fish and I had one female that at feeding time i could place my hand in the tank and she would swim into my palm and stay there. She would not do that for anyone else. Would like to hear more stories about your fishes, so keep them coming.

The guy that got me into this hobby originally started out with a discus pair. The female loved him. She absolutely hated me...rival, I guess, as she had no prob with anyone else.

There was also this huge freshwater fish at a store in Scotland that the guy I was visiting really liked. She would follow him round and round the tank & put her face right up to the glass at his face. I stopped to look at her & she rammed into the glass mouth-first at me. Freaked me out, as this was like a 2.5 ft. fish. I asked the store owner if it was the color of my shirt or something & he said no as someone had been wearing that same color earlier & he'd never seen her do that before. We spent probably 2 or 3 hours in that store & on the way out she kept ramming the glass at me. Best we could figure was jealousy.
