Do HQI run hotter than moguls?

Do HQI bulbs throw more heat than a mogul MH.
250w bulbs. Plan on putting in a hood with 9" of height.

Depends on the ballast

M-80 ballasts AKA HQI ballasts run from 270w-310w so they would make the bulb hotter

Single ended bulbs running on hqi ballasts would be hotter than DE bulbs on eballast.

But if your worried about heating your tank, they will both heat the tank about equal 20 or 30w difference won't boil a tank...

I plan on using Icecap ballasts.

I think if the wattage is the same it should be no diference in heat.
