Do RBTA like strong light?

Do RBTA's like strong lights? I have one that is under a 175, direct light, I'd say 8" from the below the water level, that seems to get 'smaller. The tenticles full expend, but the over all size seems smaller from 2 weeks ago (when I bought it).

I have another RBTA that is in a 'shadow' and he seems to be better.

Just wondering.

Depends on what they acclimate too...I have a set of BTAs directly under 400wt 20Ks. They moved to the top and others moved to the bottom of the same 32" deep tank.

Acclimation is the key. So I agree with the mod Once they get comfortable, expect it to be happy and fat.

i have a 250w 14K MH about 6-7'' from the water line, and noticed that all 4 of my RBTAs have moved to the topmost part of the tank, with their foots embedded underneath LR (for shade?) w/tentacles out taking in the light. so it seems that my RBTAs like to take in lots of light.

the funny thing is, no matter how many times they move around the tank, they end up moving back to the exact same area more or less directly underneath the light.

This little group of BTAs are under 400wt XM20Ks in LAIIIs driven by eballasts. They are a few inches from the water surface, sort of like H. magnificas I left the water surface in the cruddy picture for effect

They are from 3 different genetic lines, so it is not just a single light loving parent type ;>)

Thanks all for the advice.

I've been watching them, and to my suprise, the pair of RBTA moved to the bottom, in the shade. Wierd.

Either way, they've fully expanded and seem happier now.
