This could be a pretty stupid question, but I was wondering if it matters if the base of an SPS coral frag needs direct light in order to encrust.
For example, if I glued an SPS frag into a pocket of rocks where the branches are getting hit directly with light, but the base (frag plug area) is mostly shadowed by the rocks surrounding the branches... Would the frag still encrust onto the rock despite no light at the base? Or would the frag simply not grow?
