Depends on if Theodore gets hot. He's looked better each game he played (man did he stink those first couple of games). The Avs will give him a lot of help on defense (how many shots do they block, anyway?).
So, I'd say it really depends on if they can get anything past Turco. Their offense has sucked the last few weeks. Getting Tanguay back helped. Getting Turgeon back hasn't, much. Hejduk has been cold. Lacroix really needed to go out and find someone to fill Konowalchuk's role at the trade deadline but it just didn't happen. Brunette's done a good job on the first line in that sort of role, but they need someone doing it with Turgeon, too.
But, then again, it's not all bad. Where Dallas really excelled this year was on the shootout and that's out of the picture. They have more offense than Calgary would have, but I don't think they're as tough defensively and certainly not as good on the forecheck as Calgary. Turco's a tough one, though.
So, this series depends, IMHO, on whose goalie gets the hottest and whether the Avs can rediscover any of their early season scoring magic (and not give up on the defense to do it, like they did early in the season).
I personally don't think the Avs have the killer instinct this year. They've let too many opponents come back on them instead of putting them away.
Anyway, nice to talk hockey with you again, Brian! How's the weather?
