I climb on the roof and look at it from the skylight.

Actually I built the stands 23 inches high to be able to reach over teh 24 inch high galls right too the bottom while standing flatfooted : so ,if I sit it's a level view .; if I stand it's a top down angle .

Sometimes I lay on my back with my head stuck in the stand for a bottom-up view. Bare bottom (tank) offers that added dimension.... am I weird? I won't deny it.

Well this thread turned out to be hilarious!
Now that I think of it- I even lay on the floor to watch the aquarium.
And Tom- back at my old house I used to watch it through the skylight!

Stand, 100% of the time, more or less by design. The aquarium is more or less located in a "traffic" part of the house, not near any natural seating areas. I went with a tall stand on purpose to accommodate a standing view without having to bend over. I figured I'm pretty much going to need a stool or ladder to reach in to this monster no matter what height the stand is at, so I might as well just put it at the optimal height.

I don't remember how tall the stand is exactly but the top lip of the tank is maybe an inch or two above my eye height which would mean the stand is around 42".

Ironically, I'd like to feature emergent plants and driftwood now that I'm switching to FW, which creates a bit of a conflict since a lower height would be better for that.

I know,I read the police reports.

Reefs are in the bedroom and I jacked up my bed with bricks to be more at eye level while laying, I love it!
:)
