do zoas take dumps?

Ok I was looking at my zoa colony today and after feeding heavily with phytoplankton this last week, i noticed some blobby stuff on the mouth of one of them, and on the same colony another looked as if it "took a dump" and a brown ball came out of it's mouth and floated away. They seem fine and normal, just heard of them expelling zoanthelia (spelling?) and wanted to make sure mine were normal.

I saw mine do that once and so i've layed off the phyto stuff.. since i have a fish that feeds on cyclopeeze i figure they can have some of that if it drifts at them.. They will do fine with good lighting..

Although seeing a little polyp shoot out some poo was highly entertaining. Almost as entertaining as when my cleaner shrimp decides to clean his butt!

they expel zooax., its normal

That would explain why mine does the same! It does sit directly right under the lights at the buttom of the tank. In fact, it faces right up!

Zoathids like anemones only have one opening for both ingestion and excretion... Its normal for them to dispose of wastes through their mouth...

yes they do , mine did it last week and i thought something was wrong becas i never seen that here is a picture of it and it was alot
