DOC 9021 question

Hi,

I have a 9021 that has always been somewhat of a mystery to me. For the most part, I've been ok with it but frequently I'll have one chamber or the other chamber unable to produce a foam column even though you can clearly see that the pump is working well. I finally discovered that the bottom plate to the chamber is flexing slightly when the pump is on, thus causing a significant loss of pressure inside the chamber. If I place my hand at the bottom front edge of the chamber, where the lower plate is inserted into the slot, I can feel water coming out of the opening that results from plate flex. Is this an issue that has been addresses before?

FYI, the unit is mounted with the magnets and is elevated from the bottom of the tank. The suctions cups are not installed.

Thanks for any insight.

Yes, when used in sump with the sump kit, it should rest on the bases to prevent this, when used in tank the slotted bottoms are used and it is suspended and since the water level is then set by the submersion level it is of no consequence. You generally will just stand it on the bases with no magnet holder when used in sump. It is also possible if the skimmer is oversized for the set up that their is only enough organic material for one chamber and they will then take turns.
