I need to replace my starter in my truck and i really dont want to have bo take $100 out for just that. I kow there are "pull it yourself" yards, but i dont know where the nearest one is, or if there is any other place to get one, please let me know. Thanks
...this is for a 99 Chevy S10 2.2L

Bee Line will have 1. There on Land street off 441. Landstreet is the light just north if the florida turnpike on 441. You would make a right and follow it down a mile or 2 and there on the left.

how cheaply could i get one at one of these places? and is there anything inparticular that i should look for when trying to find one that works?

getting electronic equitment form the yards is dicey. like becca said mike can get you one and one that's in good shape. pm him. i can get the at cost new. also why do you think it's the starter? 2.2 liter correct?

You pay your money and then have a starter that is as old and used as the one you already have. Usually starters are not too expensive. Did you call around to several parts stores (not the dealer) like discount auto parts, autozone, pep boys, etc? If you are really set on used parts, stuff like that I go to a place called michaels near downtown on OBT (look under junk yards and auto salvage). This is a yard that pulls the stuff for you and offers a short warrenty period. Its usually more expensive, but at least you have some sort of recourse if it does not work.

why michael's and bee line...j and b it's better.lol

I am not always impressed with j&bs prices. My favorite one EVER is gone...airport towing....you could get pretty much an entire car for $13! They used to have sooooo much stuff out there too. And because they could not tell you what was in the yard, most lazy people would not be bothered to drive out there and walk it to find the deals!

Call around and see what its going to cost you. Start that and see where your at then ask if someone can give you a better price.

remember seth i can get any brand at cost. if it's 100 i can get it for 50.00. and if you want used take mikes offer. and mike it's a 2.2 liter.

Seth, shopping price instead of quality on car parts will keep you working on your car continuous. NEVER EVER buy anything electrical from Autozone, Discount Auto, or Advance Auto. Find a parts store in your area that carries A/C Delco parts and pay the few bucks extra. It's always better to spend a few bucks more for a part that will last as long or longer then the part you are replacing did then to save $10 now and replace it two or three times as often. That $10 or even $50 won't seem real important when you are standing on the side of the road broke down and late for work. Your truck will stay in good shape a lot longer using quality parts.

there are places you can take your starter to and have yours rebuilt. dont know any here being newer to the area, but look around
