I have had many different tanks in my bedroom through the years, and in our most recent move, set up a QT tank in the master while getting the newer DT ready. Since all the previous tanks were FW, having a tank with more pumps and overflow noise was a bit much for me as I am a light sleeper. Wife loved it, and wanted me to setup the DT, but the hardwood floors won me that battle.
Also, I agree with having people see the tank, it is much nicer to have it in a main living space. Canadians seem much more reluctant than Americans to even go near the bedrooms in another persons house, so that and my age have combined to be a factor in that area. When I was younger, and space was a tighter option, I never had an issue with people coming into my bedroom to see a tank, and sometimes it was a great icebreaker haha.
That also said, the largest tank I ever had in a bedroom for longer than 4 months was a 36 hex front.
