RBTA are a good choice and there are several people who have them in the area. You may get one from a local who has had It split. JMO

I have 2 RBTA and they are great! I think Brandon's split not too long ago. I keep waiting for mine to split..he's huge and it's time.

Mine did split, but the extra one has been claimed. :) I love my RBTA, too. Beautiful animals that are fun to feed!

I have 4 or 5 RBTA in my tank that my clowns host in. started off as 1 that cloned a few times. you are welcome to one of mine if you know how to remove them from the rock? the one I want to get rid of has a main body of about a silver dollar. dont really know what they are going for price wise, but $15 sound good? just let me know how to get it off the rock it is on.

Lindsay, I've been told you can get them off a rock by putting an Ice Cube on their foot and they will let go! Or you could just chisel a small section of the rock that they are on.
Just my 2 cents

LOL Bill..

Lindsey, a turkey baster and blast the foot with water. I have seen this method several times and it worked most the time without shocking or stressing the specimen much at all.

I have a GBTA in my tank. It loves the flow, and is getting pretty big. They are definitely interesting critters.

pickupman66- I would love to take you up on that offer. the frag i got from you ate the swap is doing well. could you hold for a few weeks until i am sure my params are stable?

thanks

Bart,

not to rain on your parade, but you may want to wait longer than a few weeks. Most people that are successful keeping anemones recommend that the tank be truely established (over a year) before adding an anemone. I added my first one about 3 months after setting up my tank, and it died within a month.

+1 here. A few weeks of stability on a new tank is not long enough. Give yourself and your tank some time. I have always said a reef tank is grown, not set up :)

Bart. I would follow the advice from the rest of the gang and hold off till your tank is good and stable. Anems can be tricky creatures. I jsut looked and I have 6 of them, and you can surely get your hands on one when your tank is stable. Keep in mind, my tank is over 9 years old and almost 4 years in this same house. I

ZEF, you are certaintly welcome to one, and Adrianbryce has also spoken for one. I live between the boro and smyrna. I was gonna say tomorrow would be good to get them, but the weather dont look good for that. I really need to get rid of one very soon as it is killing the base of my acro valida.

Bill, do they release pretty quick with the ice cube or turkey baster? chiseling the rock is not an option as it is all encrusted from other corals and I dont think I could hammer under water.

the tank is not truly new, but a combination or recombination of two established tanks one 3yr old and a 5yr old. that is why i was thinking a month would show if the combination took without any wierdness. The rock, water, and substrate was moved imediately and did not sit. I also added some live sand (not bag w/water but real live sand). The only think I could think of that might induce wierdness is the 200gal of newly made saltwater that was required to make up the volume difference. it is kinda funny in that both tanks were "children" of this tank when it was up the first time.

Your tank as a complete system is new, though. :)

I waited about 1.5 years before I put an anemone in my tank.

And $15 is an AMAZING price! They usually sell for $50 locally and $125 online!
