Does C-Sea have a library for its members ?

Murphs205

gotta love saltwater.....
if so , what newer books are there in the archives ??
I have a few long distance plane trips next month and would not mind some brain candy for the ride ,,,

we used to have one, haven't seen it this year I don't think. It's pretty out dated though. I vote if C-sea pulls in some extra cash we invest in some new books, or reef toys for the club to use.

Have brought it up multiple times have not had any serious takers ....Erik is right theres nothing in there thats really worth looking at unless you like the pictures ..... Have tried to contact a few publishing houses to try and score some free or dicounted books never heard back maybe Ill relight those fires ...

sounds good ,,, lets put something together to try to bring some in for the club to use for its members. what kind of fund raisers have you all done in the past ? any ideas to raise some extra cash ?

Any of the old books still in good physical condition but not current enough could be auctioned off either on eBay or Aquabid. The nice thing about Aquabid is the answer to how much are the fees?

"Nothing! You can post an auction for free. There are no fees.
After an auction closes and if it sells for more than $30, we ask for a 3% contribution. It is not required and is completely optional."

could a extra frag swap in the fall be a idea ?? lots of work for everyone , lots of extra cash for the club too.( if you want something , you gotta work for it) or a mini version of the big swap ?? or something along the lines of members donating frags for the raffle at the meetings for specific use for the library ?? i have a few nice zoas that i can frag and donate , raffle them off use the money from that frag for its own kitty to build up and get some new stuff for the clubs library ?? dont know , just shooting stuff out there

Where did this come from? This is the second reference to the library in 2 days. All of a sudden its a hot issue.

The library has been outdated for some time so several of us saw no point in lugging books to and from meetings. The plan was to raise money for the club for expenditures such as these (i.e. the controller raffle). However, when we did, I believe you called that "greedy" Erik?

its not a hot issue to me at all ,, i just wanted a book or two to read. i didnt even see any other post regarding a library . wasnt looking either i guess , just wanted a book to read !!
Man if this is gonna be another screw you post , forget i wanted a book to read ,

Mod please delete this post .......

Suggestions on which books the library should add would be an interesting thread topic. We bought a few reference guides on fish and coral but there are many interesting books much more detailed on specific topics that would be great for reference.

Jeff, looking to make it to the dark side? I swear, People can't post a suggestion on this board without someone crying.
I see nothing wrong with posting we should spend some money we make on the frag swap if we make it there. The club could use a nice new collection of books or even a par meter like you suggested?

Greedy has nothing to do with the frag swap. I still think 200 tickets is over board but why bring that up Jeff? Do you really like the nonsense? Never got that from you on the phone but why now?

NO I believe this is something that I have brought up multiple times at meetings but no feedback or responce ..... I personnlly would like to see some of the more recent stuff on breeding clowns and more modern reef keeping practices since it seems to be something that there is common questions on in the subjects ... at least that has beeen my observation ..

member input greatly appreciated ..........

Anyone object to that !!

True, I see a lot more signs on tanks as being "tank raised"....I wonder about the process on stuff like neon gobies.....chuggy has brought up good stuff on here about the probs with raising clowns.....I wonder about cardinals and other species than can be tank raised....

Have you read it? Are they difficult as well? I suppose if breeding saltwater fish was as easy as freshwater, fish would be a lot cheaper....just my opinion.

THere's a club member breeding them, Chuck, I'm sure he'd show you his system and tell you how he's doing it. He's pretty proud of what he's got going on. It's really pretty neat over in his basement.
I've read it years ago, it's harder to do then clowns but not impossible

I have plenty of those books including 2-3 clown breeding books. I would be willing to lend them out with 3 forms of Id and maybe a credit card ot two lol

Aaah nevermind. I will remain reticent and am certainly not crying. Its been a long week.

I encourage club member participation and always will. Which is why I hope we will have an excellent showing at this year's elections.

Used to breed and raise discus the most difficult part of breeding is feeding fry without poisoning the water. There is some interesting threads about raising watchman gobies on reef central.
