Does Fragging Induce Growth?

I got some pretty big colonies of SPS corals, an acro, stylophora and a bird's nest. I was wondering if I should frag them and spread them out thinking that the lower sections would get more light, and since that it is the case wouldn't the corals grow faster

If they get more light they will grow faster unless they are already getting all they need.

I accidently knocked a big branch of my SPS off about 3-4 months ago... this piece was just 1 4" branch that encrusted like crazy! now there's about 5 different branch growing in the space and they're about 2"
