Does the spending ever stop?

If you stop spending money, then something is wrong. It is a very addicting hobby and I always need, ok want, something else. I don't want to know how much money I have put into the hobby over the last 13 years. lol
Good luck!
:)

However once the tank is up and running the money is reduced; after it has time to mature, and if you are a "Coral Farmer" with enough skills to frag, then it can make money or at least store credit which will significantly reduce your spending.

Agreed. With careful planning, and watching what you are doing, the total costs dwindle down, and you can make money back. I do TONS of side projects and jobs to make sure I don't take away from my family. In two years I've spent about $1,750 and have had lots of tanks and animals. With all the side jobs, store credit, frags, projects, etc I'm only about $160 in the hole :) Pretty good if you ask me.

Now will you ever stop getting new stuff? I doubt it. You just might be able to manage your spending better so it doesn't come out of your wallet :D

fishdisease --- you can save a SIGNIFICANT amount of money by using Dr. Randy's formula instead of the BIONIC stuff...

It works and for our 72gal it is literally pennies a day!

After 5 months with a 72 we are upgrading to a 150 in about a month! Stuff is being built as we speak... So we agree it never stops!! Wanna buy a 5 month old 72 aga bowfront? LoL

Seriously -- go to the reef chemistry forum and use Dr Randy's formula. BIG dollar savings.

My fish budget is more than my house payment...should I worry? :) I actually spent enough at my LFS to get enough points on my credit card to buy 2 round trip plane tickets! Oh boy....think I'll go somewhere tropical and snorkel with the fishies, maybe bring a few home :)

The saga continues...

Seeing as I was pushed out another month before I can fund my rock purchase, I decided to use my spare money to go with a full-blown auto-top off system instead of just the semi-manual autotopoff with a rubbermaid reservoir.

I think I need Reefer's Anonymous and my tank doesn't even have water in it.

Sounds good. Thanks for the tip!
