Does the spending ever stop?

So, last month I was evaluating my "toy" budget and estimated that I would be ready to sand, fill and rock my tank by this weekend. I got all of my orders out for the last pieces of equipment/supplies today and found I shorted my budget for rock by a decent chunk.

Oh well, as they say, "The best laid plans..."

Does the spending ever stop?

No!!!

However once the tank is up and running the money is reduced; after it has time to mature, and if you are a "Coral Farmer" with enough skills to frag, then it can make money or at least store credit which will significantly reduce your spending.

Money is only a problem if my wife finds out just how much I spend. Ha Ha.

I have to say if you would have told me ten years ago, I would spend $6 a lb on a rock I would have laughed my A@@ off.

Not only does it not stop - it gets worse. Once you fill that tank up, you will have to make a decision - set up another tank or buy a bigger one. :)

Once you stop spending, its time for an upgrade so there is no end.

Funny you say that, I haven't bought anything for my tank in a while...except water. I'm currently planning my 180 ;)

Won't be long and you'll be eyeing the "over 100" gallon mark, or worse, the 200 and up. Then the more expensive equipment for the thing. Then the stocking.... It never ends..... Face it, if you get addicted, you'll go broke.

LOL, I went from a 30g to a 90g in month ans then a 150g in less than 3 more, just transferred to a 280g and already looking at 500++. Never ends and its pure addiction. I sell as a retail store on the side and that only covers my cost, no profit. One customers wife calls me the "crack dealer" lol.

Thats for sure!! I have my 40g, my husband just finished setting up his 55g, we have a 20g mantis tank, and a 10g QT. Now hubby wants to upgrade my 40 to a 125 or higher. There is no end!!! lol

Yup, money pit. It does get better once you acually get set up. But your always thinking about this skimmer, or that light or this or that, so it really never stops, you just have to hold back unless you have an endless amount of money. Not like me!

Yep... it stops. Not for the people posting here though. They're still in the hobby. It stops as soon as you give up.

I've got it down to a couple hundred a month though, and will probably cut it down even further.

I just got started in early Jan,

Aside from from b-ionic 2-part, another false perc, a scooter blenny and and another peice or 2 of LR I thought I was done.

This morning a coworker comes to me and says "I have a 100 gallon tank with stand that I dont need, do you want it? We'll work out a cheap price later"

Damnit!!

Nope never stops just gets worse. I started out w/a 12 gallon, than had to have another 12 gallon, than had to have a 125 since I ran out of room in the nanos, than I just had to have a 120 for my lps collection.....nope just gets worse and very addictive. I now admit I have a serious addiction & need help!!!!
oh yea this all happened in a years time
