Yes sebae anemones will host clowns. I had one that hosted an occelaris clown.
Any type of clown will host in almost any type of anemone (with the exception of smaller ones, and a select other few). They will even host in certain corals. However, its not a guarantee.
In fact i was told it was VERY rare to have my ocellaris host in my sebae anemone at the time.
I was going to say the same. Definitely need more info. This species will host clownfish. IME, many clownfish take to them quickly, including A. ocellaris.
I had a white H. crispa before it gained back its zooanthallae. I have a Clarkii clownfish. Clarkii's host in almost anything and have would have a very good chance of hosting with your H. crispa. Better chance than having an ocellaris take to one IME. But clarkii's can be pretty bossy too.
There really is no such thing as a "white" sebae. Its bleached and not healthy if it's white. I made the same mistake and purchased a bright white one. I was lucky though...the following week and a half it regained its nice tan brown color.
What light's do you have it under and what are your water params?
Sorry it took so long to get back to everyone but I now have great news: a) my sebae is losing its bright white color and is expanding and has settled in very nicely, and b) my sadde clown is now great buddies w/my nem. Who woulda thought... One last question: my LFS frequently gets bright yellow sebae anemones in and I have been told by others that yellow is not a natural color--->meaning they are dyed. Any thoughts?
I cant get it right lets just say that the annenome is pure white with purple tips it look healty and i have had it for a good 2 months but i have noticed it is getting kinda bad. it isnt opening as much now. I did a water change today and it is all shriveld up so i am not sure if it is dieing or what but it doesnt look good.
Oyster, back to your nem. Try putting a little anemone crab in with your sebae. Mine perked up considerably after adding the crab; and, since my nem and the saddle clown decided to hang out together the nem is doin really well. In the wild (according to one of my books) the sebae hosts the clarkii. Do you have a clown already because if not perhaps you could get a clarkii and try that. Good luck.
I have a pair of cin clowns hosting in it right now. it seems to be fine but i read that there is no such thing as a white one so i was worryied. it has been acting odd lately though. It was on some LR for quite a while but it is now just kinda floating on the bottom. it wont put its foot down know i didnt know what to do for it but i guess i can try to get on of those crabs but i am sure that my coral banded shrimp will mess with it.
Dont know if the images will work or not but i tryied again. the thing has just been getting worse it seems like. it has good and bad days yesterday it didnt really even open to much and today it is ok but it gets good and bad.
