Chris , your understanding was correct. Just add them to your calcium reactor.Dolomite are heavyier than aragonite it will sink to the bot. Mix 'em any way it pleases you, it wont matter. Dolomite, does not dissolve fast like A.R.M media(Aragonite). Aragonite consistency varies depending on the batch.Looses Mag. ,Sr, or not enough for good coral growt. Dolomite will replace that in solution. All you need is just a handfull to keep it steady. I'm in Chicago, i think Elgin is much closer to you,if you ever in town let me know I'll give you some. So if I am reading this correctly, you just add this stuff to your calcium reactor, right? Do I put it right on top of the A.R.M. mediia, or do I mix it in? As it dissolves it adds Mg and other beneficial minerals to the system. How is this different from A.R.M.?
I, like everyone else, want the best for my tanks. Have I been missing something with this dolomite?
Menard, where are you located so I can come and get some? Or, anyone from the south burbs or Downers Grove area making a trip to pick up?
Thanks
Chris
JOHJ. when you ready I have some set aside just for you bud. PEACEOriginally posted by johj26
are you going to be selling any i might want to try some when i set my reactor up
SULLY, coloration, pinkish to light brown they are OK. If you do see a dark rusty color throw them out. Iron or other metals ,more likely are present. GOLD, are exellent, corals loves gold.Originally posted by Sullyman
Menard, I went out there today, I picked up 75lbs of the 3/4". There are some rocks that are light brown, mixed in with the white stones, was told it's all dolomite. Any idea on that?
Going to rinse some now and add it to my reactor, just changed the media last week and left a little less than 1/4 empty at the top, so this will be easy. I'll let you know how my tank reacts in a few days.
As for the cost of this stuff, 75lbs for $2, was a bit of a surprise.
Cheapest thing I've bought for this hobby in a long time.
Dude, aint gonna work. You need a PH of 6.5 to 6.8 weak acid, the only place can achieve that is Ca. Reactor. Any Ca. based media the condition has to be acidic in order to dissolve break apart.......... Menard,
If dolomite was put into a Magnum 350 with Carbon with it still work or does this have to go into a reactor?
