not so jalli, the thing blew up in my sump, and have black particles, i scooped out as much as possible.

just a warning for everyone.

Ebo Jager have been my prefered heaters for years. However when I went into business I handled initially about 6 different brands of heaters. I had found that the Rena heaters had the lowest incident of customer returns, and were less expensive than the Ebo Jagers.

As an idea I had roughly 100 of the Rena's in operation for an average of 5 years. Out of thoise the only failures I had were the result of someone droping the heater smashoing the glass or emptying a tank without unplugging the heater.

I had only 2 Ebo-Jager heaters returned to me and I confronted the sale rep. about them. He inspected them and said they were marked as factory blems. (they were missing the inspectors final aproval mark) I purchased them through an online wholesaler and there was no mention of them being blems however his price was about 25% less than normal wholesale.

Ebo or Jager are the only heaters for me.

I know this isn't a can you recommend a heater thread, but I have had great luck with my visi-therm stealth heaters.

There are loads of good brand name heaters out there. In most cases price is somewhat proportinate to quality. Now if you one that will last almost a life time there are the titanium heaters. I know when they first came out they started around $150.00 and you needed a temp controler to run them. But these also come in higher wattages up to around 5,000 Watts. Personaly I'd be afraid of a super hot spot with a heater that big.

But on the other side if your spending $40.00 on a heater and replacing it every 5 years, a heater that last 20 years is worth $160.00.
