I'm looking to get two of them for an auto dosing system, preferably under 2mL per minute or adjustable flow. Anybody have any good brands or some useful input?? Thanks,

Either of the 2 models available from Bulk Reef Supply. Both are great. Both deliver less than 2mL per minute. You can drive them with a aquarium controller like AC-III, Apex, RKE, etc. - or - use an electronic timer.

I have the new BRS dosers and so far they are great. They dose an even amount every time I have tested them. But they only dose 1.1ml/m.

I'm going to be getting the BRS ones pretty soon as well. I was reading a thread a couple days ago stating that they could barely keep the Drews dosing pumps on the shelf. They seem to have remedied this problem, but none the less, a product that sells out in hours tends to be something worth while.

I just hooked up the drews dosers on my elos mini. They are controlled by an AC Jr. I can't get mine to turn off unless I run them in parallel with something that uses more watts, like a fan or a light. I had the same problem in the past when I used an aqualifter to dose kalk.

I am not familiar with the ACjr. but on a RKE or RKL you need to use a relat channel. Its channel 1 or 4 on the PC4 on the RK system. I am sure Neptune has something similar you just have to fing out which channels are relays.

If you are using an older DC8 make sure they are plugged into channel 4 or 8.

Are you sure? I believe only the newer DC8's (serial #9000 and above) have the relay outlets. The older ones do not, and you either have to run a DC4 or do what I said above. For reference (from Neptune):

The issue will only show up on the triac controlled outlets of the DC8. Here is some info from the DC8 manual:

NOTE: Some extremely small pumps (i.e. Aqualifter), may not be shut off when plugged into the
triac controlled outlets (1-3 & 5-7) of the DC8 due to their poor power factor. Instead plug this poor
power factor devices into the relay outlets of the DC8 (outlets #4 & #8). The relay outlets are only
available in DC8 with serial numbers greater than 9000. Do not use Icecap 430 or 660 ballasts on the
relay controlled outlets due to their high inrush current. If you have an older model DC8 then work
arounds for these poor power factor devices are:
- Plug an additional load (small light bulb/wall wart transformer/fan) in parallel with the load.
- Use a socket expansion box to control the device.
- Use a DC4 or DC4HD to control the device.

Hmm. I have my 2 Drews pumps plugged into outlet 1 of a DC8 and they work fine. Not sure what the ser # is

If you have them both plugged into one outlet then the combined wattage is probably enough. It's a little risky if you ask me because what happens is they will turn on but they won't turn off! I just hooked them up to a DC4HD (overkill I know but I wasn't using it anyways) and now they turn on and off very reliably, you can even hear the click.... if anything I would recommend a DC4 for reliability (unless you have a newer DC8). This is not something you want to get "stuck."

DC4 doesn't have enough outlets. I need to use DC8. I'll have to check the serial number of my DC8, but I think its older. At least 4 years old. Thanks for posting the heads up.

Checked my DC8 Ser#. 3910 LOL. Not even close. I'll add a little night light to the dosing outlet just for some extra insurance.

I have been looking into the BRS dosing pumps, and now they have a newer model that is supposed to have some nice new improvements. But I guess they sell out very quickly and I contacted them and found out the newer pumps won't be back in stock until the end of september, and who knows if I would be lucky enough to get one then!! So I was thinking of going with the drews dosing pump.

Do the drews dosing pumps work well for everyone thats using them??

Is one pump fairly accurate compared to another so I wouldnt have to be trying to tweak the two different timers to match dosing amounts??

And are they reliable?? I know they have a 1 year warranty, but has anyone run them for 2-3 years with no problems?

Thanks for everyones help!
