Hi guys, here are my plans to drain my 32 gallon into a 40 gallon breeder temporarily while I setup my new system.

40 br initial setup:
20 gallon new NSW (I've been using NSW for a year now)
150watt heater
2x Seio 620's
250watt HQI + 2x t5 actinic
2x Tunze 9002 Skimmers

The move:
20 gallon NSW from 32g
Rock quickly rinsed in another NSW bucket
rock placed in bb 40br
corals into the 40br
fish into the 40br

sounds simple I guess, but any other suggestions or things I'm overlooking??

thanks!

Sounds like a good plan to me.. You might want to heat up a little extra water and have it on hand just in case.. Are you going to put the 20g of new water into the 40 first? THen siphon out enough water out of your 32 to get it to about 85-90% then add the rock? When I moved form my 18H to a 20L I used the same procedure you did.. I rinsed the rock out in the tank water that was still in the original tank after siphoning out what I was going to use and removing all of the corals.. I ran my diatom filter in the new tank for about 20 minutes just to pick up the extra debris and detritus that may have still been stuck to the rock...

Good Luck on your move.. Should I be waiting for the sale thread on the 32 gallon M-tank???

thanks for the response!

Yes 20g of new water into the 40, warmed up and ready to go first!

I didn't think about leaving some room for the rock though, haha that would've been messy, thanks for the heads up.

I have two of those tunze nano filters, so I'll run those with a sponge and carbon at first as well.

And yes, the 32g will probably be up for sale shortly ;) hehe.
