Double Spawning!

I'm sure this is not the first time this has ever happened, but I think its kind of cool.

**This is not a recommendation that people mix clowns, nor am I saying you should try it.**

Both of these pairs have spawned in this tank before, but they have never had eggs at the same time. The skunks started spawning about a month ago, but the percs had stopped spawning since their gigantea died a few months ago. I noticed the female perc was looking a little plump at the start of the week and then got thin, but I hadn't noticed any eggs till this morning (they are sort of in a cave).

Here is the whole tank. Orange skunks are in a H. magnifica at the top right and the percs are in a purple H. crispa at the bottom left. It is not a beautiful tank. It needs a background and a little more life, but the clowns like it.

Here are the skunk eggs, just to the left of the male's nose. They are about 6 days old, but the eyes didn't show up with the flash.

These are the perc eggs about 3-4 days old. They were very sloppy with the placement. This is a new place for them. Their other anemone was at the top of the rocks and they had lots of flat places to lay their eggs.

Cool!

Although, momma skunk looks kind of silly in that egg pic. :D

Thanks, I've had it a little over 3 months. It has grown a couple inches in that time.

WOW! Really nice. Are u planning to raise the babies?

No, I've done it several time before over the years, but the novelty has worn off for me. The male orange skunk is actually one of my babies from a couple years ago.

Nice :>)

Is the magnifica giving the yellow leather fits?
Is that a tapetum or adhesive on the left rock pile to the right of the percs?

I noticed that, too.
If that's a tapetum it's HUGE! :eek1:

Congrats on the double spawn, phender.

The tank is 48"x 15"x 17".

The yellow leather is not taking too much on a beating yet. It used to be one leather, now its two. The part near the magnifica has attached to a huge rock and can't be moved, so its going to have to fend for itself.

It is a tapetum. It is one of three in the tank that I bought all about 2-3" across. It grew very quickly to about 6" across. The other two are still small. One is up by the overflow box. The other is forest green with light radiating stripes, but it is out of the picture in the bottom right corner of the tank.
