Down sizing. My new 240 rimless.

JPMagyar - Very nice tank setup with a great coral collection. The Pink Lava looks very sweet!

Kai-

Thanks so much! Your tank is an absolute inspiration and has driven my recent color choices as well as my coral placement. I simply adore the pastel coloration you were able to achieve, and I only hope my tank can be half as beautiful as yours. Thanks again ;)

Wow, beautiful tank. I just received my 240 wide from glasscages (36 x 60 x 25) and was planning on the two islands/canyon aquascape exactly like the one you have. I'll definitely be referring to this thread as I try to get my rock work set up.

Nice job.

Hey Mike,

Thanks, and be sure to take lots of pictures along the way. Can't wait to see what you create, and of course Good Luck!

Loving the tank... please update when you have a chance.

If possible, I'd like to see a far-away shot to show the light fixtures hanging from the conduit bars. How heavy are each of the fixtures? Do you find the 1/2" conduit sufficient? I'm looking to hang my lights as well and was unsure if I should go 1/2" or 3/4" on a 36" 20-25 lb fixture...

Great color! How hard is it to clean a 48" deep tank? I was thinking about doing a 84"x48"x24" but if 48" is too far to reach with the back of the tank against the wall I may have to go smaller.

cleaning a 48 inch deep tank...bah! My 23 inch deep is pain enough. Might have to call in the scuba suit with those depths!

btw hate to bring this up but the glass moved because they shipped it about 24hrs after assembly.its happened to us when we move our tanks around the place when we have to make 20+ a day for 300 tank orders. but we atleast bother to apply more silicone in the seams affected.

Latest update.

Latest update.

Just a quick photo of two tiny frags that have grown out over the last year in the new tank. Everything is still going well, although I am continuing to take out colonies so I can focus on a "fantastic few". These are definitely a keepers :D

What is the latest update on the tank? I saw your website no longer exists.

Fixed now ;) Helps when you pay the bills

tank looks amazing!!! how do you feel about the tank now? are you satisfied with it or would you still go elsewhere.if so, where??? im looking at the same tank and have heard problems online but ppl i know that get them love them and you cant beat the price. do you know if they offer a coast 2 coast type overflow? where are your return lines at? up thru the overflow box?

Very impressive tank and great pics. I am waiting to see what kind of top you come up with to keep your fish and other critters in the tank.

also did you ever change your flow to the smaller tunze? i was thinking of 2 mp40's or a pair of tunzes. softy only tank so no need for a ton of flow. CL is an option too.
i dont know though the more i look at yours them more voices i hear in my head!!! :D

Wow thanks for the interest! First off I am still satisfied with the Glass Cages tank, and I would buy from them again. When I ordered, the overflow came any way you wanted it to be so a "coast to coast" shouldn't be a problem. Yes the return is up through the overflow, over the top, and then under the rock work.

I now have 3 types of Tunzes that I use: 6200, 6100, and the newest Stream 2 ball type. Actually Roger Vitko sent me a new one for free when I ordered a replacement body for an old 6200. The new Stream 2 is awesome in terms of direction control. I still keep the 6200s turned way down with the controller, but I find that given the slow decay in performance over the years I like being able to move the power back up over time, and I agree Tunzes might be overkill for a softies tank.

Thanks again for checkin' in!

I lost my eel when I first set up the topless tank, but so far no further losses in the last year. I thought about building a top, but honestly the single greatest pleasure for me is coming up and looking down on the tank because the colors are soooo much cooler when you look down. Then again I change my mind constantly so maybe I'll end up with a top someday :)

Lots of growth!

I must admit sometimes I feel guilty because you wouldn't believe how much SPS I throw away. I am constantly trimming back; sometimes waaaay back and have thrown out 16 inch purple millepora colonies on more than one occasion. Unfortunately all my local friends are loaded up with the same stuff. I guess it's a good problem to have

Looks great Joe! You have to swing by and check out the tank. Those frags I got from you a couple of years ago have grown up a bit :D
