Downtown Pets Frag Swap

Newschool I am interested in the A. divaricata if you could bring a frag of that it would be great.

no problem abark.

Anyone with a mature tank interested in a 6" green bubble tip anemone. I've had the anemone for 3 years, he's too big for my 30 gallon cube tank.

oh and another question...im only going to bring a few things that I hope to trade for something else so should I just put the things I have in bags? whats anyones suggestion, I've never been to one of these things so I have no idea how they work.

ok, im a little confused now. So people dont "trade" things there?? Is it basically just a fleamarket for coral then?

oh the things i would bring are a halloween hermit. small colt frag, some mushrooms , some zoo's and maby a few other things.

basically if your swapping something be sure that someone is willing to take your stuff and what they will give you for it. Otherwise i believe what people are bringing is for sale, Try to bag everything individually and mark it clearly, if possible bring pictures of how your stuff looks when in a tank. As others have said corals in a bag dont usually look good and in the case of zoas you wont even know what they are.

Most swaps I've seen, the folks either had color pics of each coral in a bag or set up tanks w/lights & filters, heaters, etc, to see what the corals really look like. I always bought from those 1st.

Yup, sure am!

In response to Pat's question about calibration water: The only problem I've seen w/this water, is that it has to be at 77 degrees. By the time I get it somewhere, even in a cooler, it's cold. Also, the number it's supposed to be calibrated at, has rubbed off. Does anyone know what that number is?

If anyone has any of the pinpoint refractometer calibration solution, can you bring it with you. I'd like to get the bad news on what my refractometer has been telling me for the last couple of years.

You edited your post jeni!!!!

I thought you dripped the solution on your refractometer and adjusted towards 35ppm. I had no idea temp. had anything to do with it. Either way, bring it with the instructions and we'll check it out.

Yeah, I tried to edit it before but my computer froze up. Had to reboot the modem & login again. By then, you had already posted. I have no instructions. Someone just gave me a bottle at the last meeting. The 35ppm got wiped off. Now I know how to adjsut my refractometer. Everyone that's going to the swap, should bring theirs & get it tested.!

I will try to find the directions so we all don't crash our tanks! From the threads that I've read, we are all in for a rude awakening.

Just wanted to say that I stopped by Downtown Pets today and picked up a couple of zoas. Nice people, nice shop and very clean tanks. Hope to make it by for the swap, altho all I have to swap at this point is cash.
Nice meeting you F&E and the pieces look to be doing well.

F&E, I'll ask again, for the sellers: Will there be any empty tanks for folks to display their stuff? I'm afraid everything's gonna just be all closed up in baggies, w/o pics. (Sorry, if you already answered this.)

Jeni, he had answered allready. He said that there wont be any tanks available. By the way, Pat wants to know if your bringing his frag of the mean greens to the swap?
