Hey everyone!

I just joined reef central today and I thought I would give you all a quick glimpse of my tank. I am currently studying marine biology so space and money are a major issue, which is why I am only running a 2 gallon pico right now. The tank has been setup for around six months now, enjoy!

Im really impressed by the density of the system and the feather dusters indicating you feed in a diverse manner, thats pretty rare to get them stuck all over the place in just 6 mos Im assuming you are dosing phyto some how>?

some may question the long term viability of the clown in a 2 gallon setup but at least you have a skimmer and obvious good tank care under your belt that gives him the best possible chance being in a tank that small. Thats certainly a sharp system, the coral stocking is just how I like it, as much as you can fit!

thanks brandon, I used to dose with DT's plankton but I'm currently trying something new called phycopure and it seems to have a pretty decent blend of phytoplankton. I also dose with seachem zooplankton once in a while but not too often since the refugium seems to provide more than enough. I'm well aware about the clownfish and I bought him planning to move him to a 30 gallon I was working on. Only problem was the tank project got a little to costly and I had to put the project on pause for the time being. However, with that skimmer and the amount of water changes I do I'm sure hes more than satisfied!

Hey man, it's looking pretty nice there.

Curious about the pic with the gallon jug and the tube in it.

Is that you're auto top off?

I saw once, someone took a similar bottle. filled it with water, put a tube from an airpump in, and a tub out. the Air pump pumped in air, pushing out water to refil.

if that's what you got going on, how is the flow regulated? Timer on the pump?

thanks,
That jug is used for my auto-top off container. I use a float switch I grabbed off of ebay (around $4) wired to a tom aqua lifter pump. Easily one of the best additions I've made to the tank since I run it with the top off and I get a lot of evaporation. I would never suggest running something like this with a timer since it would be almost impossible to coordinate the water being pumped in with the amount being lost through evaporation.

Great Job!!!

I have a few questions for ya, How did you start the tank with live rock or dry rock? Also were is the fugium in back of the tank? Any thing speacial about the sand, I had to remove mine once it got full? And lastly what is the thin square long tube on the right side of the tank.

Again I love your results, I to have a 2.ish size nano that I love, for some reason its my only tank that I love the most.

The tank was started with live live rock and there is nothing special about the sand. I believe its the carib live sand but I cant really remember for sure. The trick is I have a nassarius snail that routinely churns the sand, especially in a 2 g pico. The refugium is located in the back left sump compartment and I modified the dymax light that came with the tank to fit over it. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the thin square tube on the right side? In the back right compartment I only have the float switch, a ph probe and the skimmer which hangs off the back of that section. Did you mean the nano mag I have in the bottom right corner?

Like it! Are you planning on doing anything with the clown soon, he's looking like he's getting too big for the 2 gallon

Thanks!

I plan on moving the clownfish to a 30 gallon tank soon. I'm gonna try to get a better camera too, my iphone just doesn't do the tank justice.
