Drilling Acrylic tank for overflow???

Hi I was wondering if anyone has drilled an acrylic tank for a Synergy Overflow or similar style overflow.

I saw a 185 gallon Tenecor Acrylic tank for a good price but it has no overflow at all.

Does anyone know if it is a good idea to drill an acrylic tank for an overflow ?

Drilling Acrylic is easy.
I've drilled acrylic dumps before.
It can be done with a standard hole saw.
Glass is the difficult one.

It doesn't get much easier. Just like with glass, don't get too close to any edge - ~ 1 hole diameter away to avoid stress on the panel. I would use a new standard wood hole saw. Don't go too fast or you risk melting the acrylic and getting a rough cut, or worse yet, the bit binding and fusing to the offcut.
