drummereef's 180g in-wall build

Brett,

Looking WAYYYYY back ..hahaha
Lighting. Why the galaxy select a watt opposed to the lumatek? opposed to a std 250w MH ballast. I am trying to reason which to get. I like the idea of adjusting the wattage based on which bulb combo I run, as I have no idea of which bulb I plan to run. I believe the radiums like/prefer the HQI option??

Input appreciated.

Thanks

Exactly this. They allow you to run more bulbs. Technically radiums are designed to be run on m80 ballasts. Sunlight has designed a e-ballast to run the radiums closer to spec than any other e-ballast.

ok, but say I go with that Sunlight ballast in anticipation to run the radiums...then what if I go with another bulb, say XM 20k or Phoenix 14k....

Are these not as effecient/ effective pairings? Down side to the select a watts of the galaxy or lumatek?

110g - I think I remember just getting a good "package deal" for the Galaxy ballasts, Lumen Bright Minis and Radium bulbs from Premium Aquatics. If I remember correctly Jeremy said the Galaxy and Lumateks are made/assembled in the same factory just painted a different color and labeled different. I think they had the same warranty etc... When it came down the the decision I liked the flexibility of the Galaxy Select-A-Watt because they switch from 250-250HQI-400 watts. That I thought would give me flexibility down the road if I wanted to experiment with different bulbs and watts. :)

As much as I like the Radiums I'm considering doing Phoenix 14ks next go around, which will me in a month or two. Should be similar color but slightly less expensive. That, and it the gvnmt might stop the import of the Radiums because of the chemical makeup of the filament. ;)

UPDATE:

OK guys, long overdue for a pic update. Hope you like these. ;)

how i wish i could remove 2 of my angels to bring back my PE!! :)

Hey bagz, what angels do you currently have? I'm thinking of adding a Potter's but definitely don't want nipping or irritation to the corals. I've heard the Potter's are well behaved but I guess it's rolling the dice with any of them...

Brett,
Nice pics. How bout a FTS?

Thanks Gary. I post FTS at the beginning of the month but I'll try and get some other wide-angle shots up sooner. ;)

Thanks

Beautiful, as always - not to be pesky, but do you have any recent close-ups of the gorgonian? How is it doing in the ULNS?

Thanks, and you are never pesky! ;) I will get a shot of the gorgonian for you tonight. Don't know why I didn't snap one to begin with. It's doing really well, I think the Roti Feast and Oyster Feast do help though. :)

Pics 2, 9, 10

What are those Brett? I'm horrible with names of anything. I go by looks and I really like those.

I'm still trying to find out myself. :D I know 10 is obviously a tabling acro of some kind but I've yet to find specific names for any of the 3 you mentioned.

Amazing recovery Brett! Keep up the good work!

I hope mine will improve soon!

Thanks dzhuo. :) The two shots are slightly different. The most tissue recession is on the back side of the coral. It is healing over slowly but it will take time. The pic I just posted shows the front of the coral where the tissue looks great and there's good PE. There's only a few places on the back where it looks dead but hopefully there's enough live tissue back there to heal over completely. Let's hope yours start perking up soon! ;)
