I have just finished reading The New Marine Aquarium by Michael S. Paletta. and now reading different posts around the forum and anywhere I can get some info. My question is, in the book the author mentions if you going to have a DSB, first place the LR in place and then poor the sand around, but another aricle say place the sand then the rocks over. Which method is correct?

A lot depends on whether you're going to have critters that will move the sand around enough to make your rock work shift.
Some prefer to place their rock on top of PVC that has been palced around the bottom of the tank and then put their sand in. There is no one correct way of doing it.
If you're planning on having a DSB then the PVC makes the most sense as the critters that live in the sand will have more room.

Agree. The only concern if you put the rock on top of the sand is that if you every put stuff in your tank that tunnels it could cause an avalanche. As an example I put a pistol shrimp in my tank. It disappeared for 6 weeks and the reappeared. It had been living under the rock work. It tunnels under the rocks still. If the rocks were not on the bottom I would have faced disaster by now.
