DSLR life?

You can get a used D1x for cheap (comparatively). I don't know if Nikon still makes the thing. Yes, it was high when first intro'ed, but you can get better for less. It is still a good camera I think. Right now my wife is trying to decide between a D200 and a D2x or wait to see if Nikon comes out with the rumored D3 series. She is the one who makes a living taking pics, I just play. At her "day job" she uses both D200 and D2x.

If I could only convince her to get a 105VR........

The D1X definitely isn't worth as much as it is, but is still a great camera. It's a 5 MP camera that produces a 10 MP picture if you use Nikon Capture to open the pictures up. The biggest drawback to it is the short battery life. For that reason I picked up the D200 as a backup camera instead.

The 105mm VR lens is a gem. I sold off my older 105mm f/2.8D macro to pick this lens up and absolutely love it.

no not yet golfschosen1. i'm on mid winterbreak and my dad and I are going to go look at some stores to see what the best price is.but i will hopefully get it soon.

Thanks.
I got the D50 because I read a lot of reviews that said it was easy for beginners and produced nice pictures at a good price.
