DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Hi Chingchai , interesting that you said a 6305 is broken after only 2 months running, i have 2 6305's myself and they have been replaced 3 times so far by tunze. A friend of mine also had his stop working and also had them replaced twice.

They seem to work fine for 3-6 months and then they just end up dying it is the motor block of the unit which malfunctions. Tunze have always replaced them so their customer service is good but the quality of their pumps is not what is used to be at all since they outsourced the manufacture to China.

The problem is that Tunze was renowned for quality and reliablity but these days although their customer service is still very good the quality of the units is definitely lacking. This has happened to so many people i know that have the 6305 , i hope Tunze realizes that they need better quality control on their new stream pumps.

Wow, absolutely amazing.

I skimmed through all 136 pages tonight :O

I've got a few build questions for you:

1) Did you take the white marble all the way up on the walls to the ceilings in the main tank room? Or did you use another material on the walls?

2) What did you wrap main hood, stand & rim in? White acrylic?

3) You said you used just hi-gloss wooden panels for the sliding doors? Did you buy them like this or paint them with the high gloss white yourself?

4) Did you also use a high gloss white on the inside of all of the cabinets? It looks like you used good finish wood - everything looks perfect cuts & all.

5) What did you use to label all the plumbing & mixing tank? I think you said stickers, but did you buy them from some where or print them up on your computer or something?

6) Where did you get your sensor switches & what do they control again exactly?

7) How do you like the STICK with Phillips 8 color changing LED strip? (are there different colored LED's or does the single LED change multiple colors? - if so, what strip did you get exactly from phillips)

Bump...

^ ???
agoutihead. Thank you. Maybe you skimmed too fast.

1. Marble is decorated on the wall.
2. http://www.staron.com/tempest/products.jsp
3. It is custom-made
4. Inside cabinet is plain white painting. Not hi-gloss.
5. My interior designer design the font and let the shop print it out.
6. I buy it from electric appliance shop. But we didn't use light sensor switch no more. It is not workable.
7. I am happy with this stick+led. It is not philips. I don't know what brand it is. I will ask my interior designer for you.

Hi Chingchai,

Can you share a closer shot pic of your red Scolymia (Doughnut). Thanks.

Here you go:

Bravo on the QT tank. So many people seems to be willing to spend 20,000 dollars on a state of the art huge reef tank but can't be bothered to spend a little money on anything bigger than an old 29 gallon to QT in. I see the QT system as the gateway through which everything that goes into the tank will pass - nice work.

Totally agree.

Let's just hope they are concerned about what we all complained about their product.
Thanks for your comment.

Thank you guys for your compliment.
Sump for QT tank already arrived.
I will set up all plumbing and put water in soonest.

Looks very gorgeous. But I cant but think, this is still a young tank, and those corals are already packed very tightly. Are you planning on just constantly trimming the to prevent contact/aggression as they grow? Thats seems like it will be a constant and ongoing concern (albeit a good concern).

Oh, and I cant think how much *better* your tank would look if you would put a dark blue or black background on it. enough feedback from me. Like I said, very gorgeous.

question/feedback

can you give me a feedback why you set up your powerheads on the back wall facing the back? Thanks..

you will not put a black sticker on the bottom to hide the pipes?
Fund dark creates a frame that highlights the colors of the corals.
congratulations, the assembly of the reef is beautiful, when you begin to put fish again?

Very beautiful Ching!!
I admire your vision and attention to the small details. The growth rates are already very good! The yellow Turbinaria on the right is already healing? Do you think that the growth is better than your old system? Is it the prodibio that makes the growth so good?
