DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Chingchai

I believe that the overwhelming majority of members and visitors to this thread are struggling to find the right words to express how much you have fueled our collective passion for this hobby.

I think you have made 2009 the vintage of the century for those of us who seek to know the awesome Sommelier of the salty seas!

For those who think that money can buy anything fail to understand that this accomplishment that Chingchai has achieved has nothing to do with the amount spent but more with the passion and huge emotional toll it takes to execute on this dream. We, who can only hope to clone the results of your efforts, will always be shadows chasing the light.

My quest to follow you on this next phase of your journey is focused on the question ....Will all this phenomenal planning and preparation result in an environment also elevated above the norm?

I sincerely hope so.

Peter

Hello Chingchai ! :)

I just registered after reading your thread because I wanted to congratulate you for all the work already done. I've never seen before a project managed like this ! Hopefully I discovered it before you went too far, so now like a good movie or tv show, I'll follow it closely. Once again this is fantastic ! I hope I'll flly someday to Thailand. A guy who enjoys good wine can only be someone with taste ! ;)

I wish you the best. A bientôt.

Most AMAZING

Most AMAZING

Chingchai,

This is truly most amazing. Thank you. Hands down the best thread I have ever read. I can't wait to see how it continues to develop.

I have a friend that travels to Thailand for vacations with his wife usually once each year. He has had nothing but great things to say, and after viewing this thread, I have a renewed interest in visiting your country. And diving on the natural reef there.

When are you planning on adding living things?

What is the noise like in the tank room? It looks like things are well insulated, but you have a lot of equipment, what about heat in the room with everything running?

Best of luck with everything.

John

Thanks for reponding to my post. I am happy to see that things are going well. I really like the Neo lights for your soft corals. i look up your link to the website but can only find in Japanese. Did you get this in BKK?

Also Woowoodenguy is correct NM1975. here in HCMC floor space is over $5500 a sq metre! Bangkok probably much more. That means even a small houst cost alot. Here in VN there is no such thing as mortgages. looks like a fine house to me. Also this was originally a garage I think.

Anyway Chingchang keep it up you have many admireres.

Regards

Neil

I got this light from Japan.
Thanks for your explanation.

I agree with NM1975. I thought it was a "slum" neighborhood, but I didn't dare ask because I thought I was clearly missing something. Everyone here has to be less sensitive to word choice. I think it was a bit harsh, but it was direct. The interior looks amazing, but the exterior looks like a slums, NM1975 and I can't help but make that connection. I applaud him for asking because I didn't dare ask.

Moreover, if that's a nice neighborhood in Bangkok, I cannot imagine what a Bangkok slum looks like.

Lastly, it's not ignorant. He asked for enlightenment. You people got all focused on the issue of ignorance when in fact he did make that clear in his comment. As far as NM1975 and I can recall, Thailand was a 3rd world country, and is now a developing country.

Don't just sit in your house and read the book.
Come on out and see the real world.
Then you will exactly know what is the definition of Slum.

Yes, Thailand is so called developing country.
But I am so proud to be Thai.

Ching, how long before you add the rock structures you have created? Also, pardon me if I have missed the answer somewhere in the thread, but what kind of bottom are you planning? Deep sand? Shallow sand? Bare bottom?

I will add the rock on this Tuesday.
Shallow sand bed is the answer.

Wow, Chingchai, that is the most amazing R.O./D.I. system I have ever seen on a home aquarium! :D

Thank you so much for allowing us to share in your tank build. You are such an extremely dedicated hobbyist.

The lady who designed your system must have a lot of experience setting up high-end systems. Is this her most ambitious project ever or has she designed other, even larger systems?

I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Good luck!

:D

Thanks.
This lady, she did build a much bigger project than mine. But mostly in freshwater tank.

That is what passion is all about guys.

I think you may not have visited asia. Thailand is a amazing place. Millions of tourists visited there annually. You can call it a 'slum' but its a town that they enjoy living in. Even the rich do not necessary want to shift to unknown places as they have been brought up the way it is. They may got used to it and perhaps that is the reason they make their big bucks from this very so-called 'slum' they live in.

Please appreciate this thread rather not to drift into unnecessary debate.

Although its a question that lingered you, but it should put in a tagful manner.

Thanks.
You know us quite well.:)

Peter. Thank you.
You are exactly right.
Rich people dare not to do this project.
It is the matter of obsession and craziness.:p

Are you going to be using the towers that you built, the live rock we saw earlier, or a combo of the two? Either way I can't wait.
