Dudester’s 450g corner in-wall and tank room – help with design

Dude!

I hate to hear you having such troubles!

Were I closer I'd help you redo the plumbing. What a nightmare!

Thanks man, VERY kind of you to offer plumbing assistance! Yeah, it sucks, but when the timing's right I'll get this sucker back into shape.

Sorry that happened with your tank leaking dudester. On another note, now you can focus on restocking the tank. Stupid cats, that is why I will never own a cat, besides the fact I am allergic to them. Looking forward to seeing the Dudester Reef Part II!!!

@ Aquaculture76 - Thanks! I've never been a cat fan myself but my daughter adores them. So they stay.

@Newbie Aquarist - I dunno. I am waiting for the mood to hit me. I'm an all-or-nothing kind of guy, and when I put my mind to something I tear into it and don't quit til it's done. But if I'm not into something, I blow it off completely. All this attention on RC is rubbing me in the right kinda way, if you know what I mean, so hopefully I'll get the itch real soon. But I can't force it, and I know it will happen at some point.

Dude, Have you considered a fish only tank and blowing off the corals. I completely understand how you feel. It might be years before your back into SPF corals. I would try fish. Maybe an Angel tank.

Marty

Chris, thanks man, very cool of you to offer your help!

Marty, there's no way I'll do a FOLR tank, NEVER. It's all about the corals for me, fish are just there for the kids and to poop on the corals. Besides, I would still have to plumb up the tank, etc. to even get fish in there.

Understand. Hope my idea doesn't get me kicked off the thread. LOL

Marty

Ha, no worries man, your input is always welcome, nice of you to make a suggestion!
(even though it's absurd and will likely get you booted from the thread) :lolspin:

Hey Marty (and others)! Well after a long time of staring at that empty glass box, I finally got the mojo to get'er goin again. The tank was rebuilt a little more simply, only 1 drain in the bottom to serve as the chiller closed loop drain. The tank's been wet for about 2 months now. Here's the initial aquascape, still settling out.

All of the rock was from the original setup that John had kept circulating in his shop at Capital Aquariums here in Austin -- Thanks again John!! We had the expected algae bloom but the cleanup crew took care of it and we've just begun to stock it with some frags and one really nice elegance coral.

And here's a quick vid at feeding time.

There's good coraline algae growth so it's time to stock up with more corals and some new fish. So that's what's going on here!

Great update Mike. Glad to see it wet (and thankfully I didn't have to help move it.)

I'm going to send you a PM and pick your brain about the CL.
