I just got in trouble with The Lady of the House for buying mine, and its not even here yet. :) Thats what I get for having a girl smart enough to check the bank statement online.

Still worth it though.

:fun2: sometimes you have to let go of the things you love ;) j/k

Last time that happened to me, I just pointed to her shoe collection which seems to spread and multiply faster than my Xenias. That did the trick :)

Well while she likes shoes she only buys them at Marshalls and TJ's so that wouldn't work. Plus she hasn't been shopping in awhile.

I just have to keep reminding her that she is the one who initially liked the corals.

a baby to full size is a tough one to say, as my "full grown polyps" are continually getting bigger. but from first sign of growth to having tentacles and the ability to take food, i would say 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.

as stated before, they are photosynthetic, but heavy feeding will make them grow like crazy!

I may throw these guys in my smaller tank so I can feed them much easier and see how they grow. What are you guys that get great growth feeding them? I have done mysis and brine soaked in selcon.

Here is a picture of my Duncan, as promised. This coral is in a difficult spot to get a picture so I had to go top down at an angle so it looks a little funky...but you get the idea :D.

I feed mysis in selcon, i also have fed peeze as well as arcti pods. Mysis is best IME.
You can even feed each polyp a couple times each. just turn off the pumps, feed, wait 5 mins, feed again. these things are hungry buggers!

beautiful. my ORA duncan has sprouted 5 babies since I got it 2 months ago.

I will post my experience with my Duncan and maybe it can answer some baby length question.
Mine is an ORA Dunacan purchased form liveaquaria back in late November early December. It was purchased as 1 1/2 polyps.

First pick is 2-3 weeks after purchase.

Next pic is today... I just took the pic at night so the green is not so bright but is very vibrant and tries to eat the seahorses it lives with. The Dunacn is about 10 -12 adult polyps and countless babies

Just got my ORA Duncan yesterday... he's currently on the sand being acclimated to my T5s... once acclimated where do you guys place them ?

I have 2 seio 1500's blowing in the tank, 1 on each side of the tank, one more to the front and the other more to the back... my rocks reach to about 1/2 to a bit heigher of the tanks height.

How many times do you guys feed em' he already ate on the first night..

First pic of mine is under a 250watt HQI , second pic is 70watt HQI, third pic is a 150watt HQI. It seems to like all lighting conditions. I try to traget feed mine daily while feeding the seahorses. Its seems to dislike direct flow but loves the random flow of my hydor on a maxi-jet 1200.

Got my first Ducan today!!! I placed it in a container with a min power filter and polyp sponge. after a few hours its starting to open. I will acclimate it to my main tank in a few days. Thanx chelskisw6

Crazysps: is the last photo - the red finger gorgonian, non-photosynthetic? How long are you keeping it, what kind of the tank, filtration to keep water quality, intensity of the feeding - share experience on the Soft corals forum, in the thread with Gorgonian in the title. There is lack of first-hand informtion.

delsol: where did you pick up your ORA piece? I have a friend who is looking for one, and mine isnt ready to be fragged yet.

strong/moderate indirect flow is best for these guys... feed as much or as little as you'd like. these things dont need to be fed to live, but def. benefit from frequent feedings, not to mention they grow like crazy when target fed.

Tony, you are very welcome, hopefully you will be selling frags soon!

Crazysps, that gorg is awesome, id love to get one like that! maybe once i set up my seahorse tank!
