duncan question

I've just purchased a nice frag of australian duncans. There are 4 main heads, and about 4-6 baby heads branching off of each one of those. Right now I have it's stalk in the sandbed since I could not find a spot for it where it would fit or get stung. I have it in a low flow, moderate-semi high light area. I've had it in the tank for 2 hours so far, and it hasn't opened up much. How long can I expect it to take before the polyps open up? Also how often should I feed them? Can they sustain themselves on light itself, or does it need to be fed? When I bought it, I knew it grew faster if fed but was wondering if it needed to be.

Thanks

I just bought a frag and placed it in a moderate light spot (about 4" from the bottom) and good flow. They opened up about 3 minutes later.

any light any flow...i couldnt kill them if i tried...

they will open when lights are on...not a coral that opens up full at night like so many other LPS. i wouldnt worry about it to much...give a couple days and they should be fine...

They can live off of light (They don't like bright light though I think moderate is better) but do better if they're fed occasionally. I feed mine mysis or Rods food. Anything meaty and small enough for them.

kass

I've had them for about a year now, and dont target feed them at all. Mine are about half dollar size or more now and sprouting babies all the time. They are under 250 watt MH and in medium high flow.

i have not feed my duncan for a few months now..i kept it in the lower middle. if you feed it..they grow fast
