Duncanopsammia Axifuga help

ENraged

New member
I received a 3 polyp frag of this yesterday and it has still almost 24 hours not opened up completely acts like it is going to then stops..

Currently in an almost stock lighted AP12 with a maxi-jet 900.

Water temp is almost 77 degrees frag is not directly in current
sitting on the bottom..

all para's are fine just wondering if i should be worried about it

I found that these corals like a little more current than you'd think. My new Duncan was acting the same way when I received it. I moved it into a higher flow area and it's been happy ever since. It could be other things, but this was my experience. I'm sure others will have some good suggestions as well.

Mean everything is for lack of a better word perfect.
Nitrate/nitrites 0
PH 8.2
Calc 410
ammonia 0
Ok i have moved him mid tank and more towards the flow lets hope thats does the trick.

I recently got duncan frags from two different sources. One opened almost right away but the other took about 3 days to fully open. The slower one is doing great now, just as healthy as the one that opened the first day. If it's peeking out a little here and there, just give it some time to settle in and it will probably be fine. Duncans are very hardy in my experience. You might try squirting a little Cyclopeeze or similar over it and see if that doesn't help. Good luck.

Thanks, yea it peaks out a bit a few tenticles will expose themself then back in it goes..
the little bits I have seen look great so i hope it relaxs and comes out to play over the weekend
we shall see.

"Might i ask the source of your one that took a few days to open Tyke?"

I PM'd you that info brudda.

dont worry about it... it will open, sometimes they just take a few days. Everytime i frag mine, they close up for a while, and a few days later will open up looking better than ever!

as mentioned before, try feeding it a little bit, that seems to help.

Yea they are happy now..
I must say very nice looking creatures its good see they are making a showing in the states more now. now to start a collection of them B)

Bummer wrasse i have done multiple orders with out incident each time but i didn't try to arrange any kind of out of the ordinary shipping.
Love my usps express 8)

I just order one of each of Roes Ducans (4 different colors) and everything went perfect, I even asked for delivery with FedEx instead and to have it held at the site...
