Dwarf Flame Angelfish QT

What do you guys use to QT dwarf Flame Angelfish? I read that they can be sensitive to coppersafe meds including Cupramine.

I am thinking of QT them using prazipro and cupramine separately.

Looking for tips from the pro

what are you treating for. I would give a formalin bath, then TTM w/ Prazi-Pro, and round of CP. This is my preventative measures for new fish.

Just for prevention really before putting him into DT. the fish may just look healthy.

When I got my flame angel a few years ago and first put him in QT he had ich pretty bad. I ended up treating him with Coppersafe for about 2-3 weeks and he was fine, still is to this day. I personally think Fritz Coppersafe is a better way to go than Cupramine if you're choosing to go the copper route (Also fine using with Prazi.) It's chelated so it's a little more stable and it's easier on the fish, IMO.

Why not simply observe in QT? Give it 8 weeks, and if nothing probably good to go. If you must medicate, CP is a good way to go for dwarf angels.

Thing is I don't know where to get CP here in Canada.

So do you think your fish have ich. or some other parasite.. I watch the fish in qt for a few days then two doses of API General Cure, it will get most all parasites for sure the common ones.

with angles Gill flukes is the biggest concern.. i have a Copper Band Butterfly i QT that i got wed morning from Live Aquaria them seems to have it... I see it twitching its head once in a while.... but i see no signs of ich as of now..I slowly raise the heat to just above 81 deg. if its ich the parasite will show within a few days .

I went with TTM for my 2 flames. Worked well for me.

TTM and prazipro for me (well, for my fish) Having seen the ravages of copper use (and been guilty of it way back long ago) I really can't think of anything I would have to use it on. There are other, much less stressful methods that work better.

I don't like the idea of medicating any fish unless you absolutely HAVE to.
A six to eight week observation in a separate quarantine tank and watching for any visible changes in appearance or behavior ought to be sufficient.
But have the meds on stand by, though.

Cupramine is available in Canada. I saw it in the LFS I go to, and I'm sure it's at Big Al's.

I think so, which is why my new flame is going through TTM. Totally worth the piece of mind.

IMO, yes, there is a possibility it can have ich and may not show any symptoms. During that 6-8 week observation, it may not be stressed out, but when you move it to the DT, it gets stressed and boom, now your whole DT has ich.
