dying clam

well I'm pretty sure one of my clams is on the downslide. problem is I don't want to leave it in the tank to make the water riiden with ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. I have the 30 gallon I tore down still. should I throw some water in there and just let it go?

You'd be surprised at how quickly your clean-up crew can take care of a dead clam, without experiencing a large ammonia spike. Unfortunately, I'm speaking from experience.
