I got the chance to take some updated pictures of Greg's tank. Although, after yesterday I need to revisit. He added some more gorgonians and some more Klyxum sp., & Cladiella sp., and just as a special treat for his golden puffer, some Euphyllia sp.

It is a 400 GAL. glass aquarium by Lee-Mar (eurobraced).

If I remember correctly, it is coming up on 3 years...during this time he has assembled an impressive community of fish.

He has also established quite an environment for them to live in!

Hope you enjoy looking, and please forgive the blurry fish...I am still perfecting my aquarium photography.

The aquarium is oriented as a peninsula and is viewable from three sides. The dimensions are 72" x 36" x 36"...meaning if somthing falls, it is a real PITA to pick it up!

Anyway, on to the pics-

As it looks in his great room-

If your facing the end of the aquarium, this is the left side...the side that faces his front door-

This is the "front" end of the peninsula-

If you are facing the aquarium, this is the right side...the side that faces his living room.

And, her is a few pics of some of his fish-

His Conspicillatus...going on 2 years-

Thanks for looking, and hope you enjoy it...I know I do!

Hmmm....what is this amazing Golden Puffer is doing there?

This makes me rethink my fish list...

Do you know the origin of that Golden Puffer?

First of all, thanks Scott for posting these pictures of my aquarium and your outstanding maintenance of it.

Vili_Shark, the Golden Puffer came from LA DD about 3 years ago.

Can you please comment on the sponges. They look very healthy. Yet the tank looks very clean = low nutrient to my eyes. How long have the sponges been in the tank? How is the feeding supplemented if at all? Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

small alien-

Thanks for the compliments!

The sponges have been introduced to the tank mostly based on availability. The first ones went in almost 9 months to a year ago. The large rope sponges and the lattice sponges are from the Atlantic. The only fish that seems to be continually interested in them is the juvenile Blue Line Angel...just a bit of nipping here and there.

Suprsingly, his Golden Puffer does not mess with them.:celeb1:

No liquid foods are added specifically for the sponges, however the amount of suspended particulate matter from feeding the fish "seems" to provide enough to sustain them AND, I speculate that coupled with the fact that Greg has a commercial chiller that keeps the temp between 73 and 74 degrees lowers the metabolic rate of the sponges to the point that they are sustainable.

We have tried others...which have not made it...and I speculate for them that the coming out of the warmer Atlantic and Pacific waters inables them to adjust to near temperate conditions.

Only when it is obvious that an organism is not going to adjust to the ambient conditions, do the fish diplay an increased interest in it...which usually means I am removing pieces of it from the bottom...of a 36" deep tank...that has a 12" canopy on it!

Some days my back is really sore.

My Golden Puffer is very timid. He gets scared of the other fishes when there is a mysis feeding frenzy. He does love to munch on LPS corals though which is why I don't have any.
