Earth to NARC - Come in NARC!

In Memoriam
What has happened to all the NARC posters? I remember when we had 3 or 4 new posts a day from "the gang". When did everybody go? Mariner used to post every day, Tomoko too. I haven't heard from Kyle or Jason in months. 8Ball was always coming up with a DIY project. KwajRocks has 1200 gallons of new "reef" in her den without any updates. MaryBebo was always posting pictures of her reef. Have you people all lost interest?

As for us, my landlady and I have a lot of new fish from Darrell and Johnny and they're all doing just fine. We got about a dozen really great frags from the Chattanooga swap and the 225 is now "planted" and ready to grow. The 190 has "grown in" to the point that there's not room for anything else. We're very pleased with their progress.

WAKE UP AND CHECK IN !!!!

Hey Harry :) I agree, I miss everyone lately too. There are even more people too that we haven't heard from in awhile. Where is everyone? Sure hope everyone is ok.

Harry, glad all is well with your tanks, you need to post some pictures too of your new fish and frags. :D I love to see pics as you can tell...lol

8ball gave us a taste of his tanks the other day with a few pics. They are coming along nicely! It will be nice to see his progress at the meeting.

Tell your landlady I said HI!

Ok, Harry. I give. I read your posts, with a glimmer in my eye, a smile on my face, and questions abound! I must ask........

When you say "landlady" do you mean your wife? I get so cracked up at you, sometimes I don't know if you are using that amazing wit of yours, or if you are serious.

Do Tell! Mary--nice to see you as well!;)

WAKE UP AND CHECK IN !!!!

I'm awake and checking in! I have not lost interest in the hobby. I think for me, I am more "reef active" in the fall and winter, when it's cold and you have to be inside. I have some projects planned for later (kalk reactor, etc), but for now I spend most of my time doing outside stuff.

I still keep up with maintenance very well, I just don't add much new equipment or livestock wise.

I did however, buy a Naso Tang Friday...I think football season is a good indicator of cooler weather to come.

I still monitor this forum, just don't post much, mainly because I don't have much to say...although that doesn't stop a few... ha-ha just kidding!

Here is a pic from today, proving I still have a tank. :)

Hmmm, I don't know if that proves anything...we need a shot with a dated newspaper in with it.......:D

Actually, very nice Kyle...I hope that's your name? May I ask what the huge coral is on the right side, with what looks like blue tips?? AMAZING!:eek1:

cainchristy,

You're right...that pic doesn't prove anything. But I promise it's from today! Ha-ha!

I think the coral you are referring to is a blue tip Staghorn. Harry can tell you more about it...it came from him during a meet at SpeakerAddict's. It was when we dropped off a bunch of corals into "fragcentral"...never ended up with any corals from that effort. :( The Staghorn has doubled in size, but hasn't branched very good.

I haven't posted much lately. I've had a semi-tank working for a while and finally got the frag I wanted. I call it Frag O' My Heart:

Oh, what an adorable little bundle of joy!! Lucky you! :D

And Kyle, thanks for answering me. All of you guys feel free to call me Christy, really anything goes, except for Mrs.Cain...makes me feel kinda old:rolleyes:

Mariner here, reporting in.
I was lost at sea, my ship cracked up on a reef, and... oh well, why bore you with the details. ;)
Not much new with my tanks. The 75 is doing quite well, but the 40 has a rather bland look and some sort of snotty looking gunk that collects in the sump and return tubing.
I'm hoping to make the meeting at 8balls later this month.
Nice tank Kyle!
Over and out,
Mariner

OH How SWEET Marybeth!!! Congratulations!!! Best Wishes to you all:)

It's so good to hear from you all and to know that your tanks are doing good.

I've just been reading everyone's posts as well. I just finished my Maxi Jet Mods, they work great now but for the past couple of days they were driving me crazy. Always flickering and not working. Got the bugs out now, simple adjustments and are really pushing water. Have them both on one side to keep from having a sand storm.

Fall is a tough time of year with school start up/football season/etc. This year I turned in my referee stripes so that I could spend more time at work and with the family. (3/4's of us are at the same place and Jake joins us next year).

I've spent most of the summer moving (ask Springer about the tank move) and have just been replacing a couple of inhabitants that didn't make it through the rough handling. I will have to reaquascape before I take any pictures... at least of the tank.

I'll be checking in, but now that I'm in Blount Co., it takes a bit longer to get everywhere for meetings. I'm hoping to see everyone again at 8ball's . . .

H@rry You made me feel bad..This is for you!

I did a DIY this afternoon. Thought I'd share

I made a magnetic holder for my Seio 820. The only way to mount the Seio's like a Tunze is to use the stupid suction cups. So this was my fix. Its just a throw together but it works! Took about 20 mins, Couple dollars worth of magnets and some scrap Acrylic I had in the shop.

Way 'ta go Will! I agree about the suction cups. I just don't trust them to hold after they age a little bit. What makes the Seio "swivel"?

I scraped my glass today and my landlady took a bunch of pictures. I'll try to post some of them tomorrow.

Lookin' forward to the meeting at your house.

The Seio's come with the Swivel base like above. But the only way to use them is with the suction cup bracket. They come with a Bracket that lets you hang them on the side of your tank so you dont have to use the suction cups. To do that though you can't use the Swivel base and with the seios mouted the other way it cuts down on flow ALOt.. Would love to see pictures your Tanks!! Look foward to seeing you guys at the meeting.

I just built another one for my Seio 1100. Pretty much the same thing.

Yea those suction cups are bad. One night I heard this aweful noise from the living room, one of my powerheads had fallen and picked up a little sand, no big deal - but it was blowing what it didn't pickup to the other side of the tank. I turned that one off and then not one minute later the other one fell off! Everyone talks about it but never thought it could happen to a week old pair and learned my lesson the hard way.

My Website is finally up!

My Website is finally up!

Hey guys and gals...

Thought I would post what I have been up to lately....

First, I've currently been working on a website to keep up with my tanks & what nots... If you get a chance check it out and let me know what you think! Jay's Reef Tank

Second, I have purchase a 240 gallon aquarium and I am very excited to get this thing filled with water, but it will probably be weeks if not months before it's up and running...most details are on my website, so check it out!

Also, as you will read, not all of the pictures are of my tank...most came from other people who have allowed me to use them as place holders until I can get some more pictures of my own tank!

Let me know how you like it!

thanx,

Jay
