Ive also just switched my 250W radiums on a spec ballast to the plusrite 250w 20k. My initial take is that they are not as blue as the radiums but are more like 14K. The intensity seems a bit less but without a par meter i cant be definitive. I like them so far, and the color matches the 400w 20k bulb that i am also running.

Try these guys. I don't think 1000lights carries the DE bulbs. Last I checked they only carried the Moguls. These guys also have the DE bulbs. They are trustdeals (ebay seller).

Think I'm gonna order these and give them a try, replacing my old coralife 10k's, I want a bulb that isn't too blue, but does not need actinic's to make the colors pop.

I'm on my 3rd set of PlusRite 250Watt 14K SE bulbs and they've been working great. I had algae in the beginning and thought it was the bulbs, but it turned out to be that my LR was loaded with PO4. After fixing the problem, I've had no issues and my SPS, LPS, Softies and Clams have been growing just fine. A good bulb in my opinion. But, they do look more on the white side, no yellow though. But, I'm not a huge fan of the super blue look.

It's absolutely amazing to me that people still spend $50-$100 on bulbs when they could be buying Plusrites. Then again, I guess I shouldn't be....people trip over each other to get in line to buy $450 circulation pumps/toys.

If the 20k look like 14k, how does everyone think the 22k will look? If have used the 20k 250w DE plus rite before and like them even though the were a lil whiter than I hoped. I got a good deal on SPS brand 14k's and ran those for the last year. Now I want to try a bluer look. 22k plusrites on lumatek 250w dimmable/selectable ballast?

hmmm.. I didnt know they made a 22k... I like the look of hte 20k's. seem teh perfect mix. I may add some blue LED's to add in some extra pop if I want more blue.
I have used plusrites off and on before. Using a 175watt 14k on a vertex electronic ballast. It is a nice crisp white with a touch of blue. Had a 20k and it was just too blue but didn't really burn it in either. Now I have 20k reeflux on lumatek ballasts and they are the opposite, they are a nice crisp white. I guess it really depends on what ballast you are using to drive them.

I currently have SPS (South Pacific Sunlight) brand 14k bulbs over my 125 dt. They are 250w de bulbs and I run them with Lumatek Dimmable ballasts. Saturday I decided to switch out two of the three bulbs and see how they look. I switched one to a Plusrite 20k, and the other to a Artemis 20k. I left one of the SPS 14k's in for comparison. The tank color looks uniform. I can't tell a difference between the 20k's and the 14k. All of the bulbs are used and in need of replacing.

I have an M80 HQI ballast running an Ushio 10k DE right now, does anyone know how it compares the Plusrite 10k DE? I don't care for very blue bulbs. I though the Phoenix was too blue.
