Ebli angelfish in mixed reef???

I just got an Ebli Angel that's currently in quarantine and I'm planning on putting him in my jbj 30. It's a mixed reef and I know I'm taking a gamble with having a dwarf angel in a reef. I was wonder if anyone knew if the eblis were on the "less likely" side of the poll.

What size is the angel? A 30 might be too small for one.

From my experience, unless you are talking about coral beauties or flame angels, most dwarf angels will go after corals. I've believe Elbis to be on the "more likely" side.

Even coral beauties and flames have a pretty big rep of going after corals..

I forgot to mention it'll only be in the tank for 4 months. I'm upgrading soon to the reefer 425 xl

Depending on if he is the dominant fish or not, he may not last 4 months in that size tank. They can also be jerks too.

Given the size of your tank and the overall growth you have a much higher chance of success. In a smaller tank I don't think there is much chance it won't decimate the reef.

I know your squamosa is pretty big so nipping may not happen, not sure if its size will deter the fish, but Tridacnids are usually one of the first things angels start nipping in my experience.

With pretty much all (reef compatible with caution) fish it just varies fish to fish Some turn out to be model reef citizens while others make you pull your hair out.

I've been 'rolling the dice' for a while with three resident dwarves (including the dreaded lemonpeel) so hopefully a 4th won't release the hounds

Since I keep anthias, I do feed a lot. I also don't have particularly good polyp extension on the corals, which I attribute to some nipping. Corals grow, so no biggie I suppose. I like the fish better anyhow :lol:

If you decide to add a dwarf angel I would advise to consider adding a pair. In my experience lonely dwarf angel can develop into jerks who like to pick on all and everything. Pairs are usually quite busy with themselves which reduces the time they have to pick on corals or other fish.

So I should get another Ebli or would another dwarf be fine, like a Flame?
