Ecotech Radion G5 Blue

Ordering some G5 Blues and am wondering if any of you have them and what you think?

I'm going to try 4 fixtures perpendicular and go from there.

From the vids I saw, I think Blue is the way to go and with all channels at 100%, would be the same as the AB+ program that many reefers use.

I'm over changing T5 lamps.

sent you a pm.

I made the move from orpheks. I have been running them on my display for about 2 months. I like the light a lot, color and spread on them are great! The spread on them was so good that I ended up not using 2 units. There are still some bugs on the software but they are slowly making improvements on them. Currently one of my lights (not one specific fixture, random one) would stay on after lights are schedule off or would not turn on when they are schedule on. Ecotech said they have found the issue and this should be fix with the next update.

Thank you for that!

I also noticed some housings were cracking, did you have that issue? I think that has also been addressed and fixed.

What's the dimensions of your tank? How do you have them oriented?

My tank is 72" x 36" x 27" tall. I plan to use the RMS rail, brackets, and a hanging kit and hang them about 8" to 9" off the water.

Yes there were issues with the housing cracking on the earlier versions, but issues were resolved on the later ones. My display is 63x32x24 tall. I have them mounted through the RMS rail kit/arm, lights are perpendicular to the tank. They are about 8" above waterline. I think 4 units on your tank should be enough.

How many do you run on your display?

Great light! I came from the ATI powermodule and I'm not disappointed. I'm using 2 perpendicular on my 36x20x20 and my tank is covered with light. The option to have a little more white would've been nice but can't complain.

also to address you pm, I picked the blue over the pros cuz I like my tank a little bit more on the blue side.. I currently have all the channels at 100% with intensity at around 60. The light spectrum looks very familiar to the 14k phoenix metal halide bulbs from what I recall.. which I loved! A friend of mine is running the pros and he said that the color spectrum is very similar to the g4 ab+ which seems to have a hint more of violet compared to the g5 blue.

My G5 XR15 was cracked but the it was more of a stress crack than anything else. I called ETM and they sent out a new housing.
