You win.
Dipping a clam is one method that has worked for some, but you'd be best served to ask in the clam forum.
Thanks Nick for chipping in - what makes Gigantea harder to keep compare to the other 2 carpets?? I used to have one and as long as you give them their random flow, good lighting and the sand bed with rocks, they seem happy!!

Ed,
From all reports, they just dont adapt as easily to captive environments as well as the others. But I strongly suspect that this has more to do with collection and shipping stress than anything else. They do require good random flow and strong lighting in a stable tank. Many people cant or dont provide those things as well....
I've never kept a Carpet anemone so I cant speak from experiance there. I do have three anemones right now, (an H.mag I've kept for going on 3 years, an H.crispa I've had for almost 2 years, and purple LTA I've had for 1.5 years), so I'm not exactly in the dark either. I've never kept a Carpet because I havent seen a healthy one here in St Louis Mo when I had room in my system for one. Rest assured that as soon as I see a healthy gigantea anemone and I have room in a stable system for it, I will purchase one. Nick

Regarding Pinched Mantle:
I purchased two Crocea clams from and online vendor and within a few weeks, they both showed signs of PM. I began by doing freshwater baths to treat it. Temporarily, they worked, however, within a few weeks, the PM returned. I was doing RO baths that lasted an hour, (60 mins), and it still came back.
Finally, I treated with metronidazole in a hyposaline environment. That killed the protozoan causing the PM, but I also lost one of the Croceas. I still have the other one and that was almost 4 years ago.
Long read, (29 pages) but details on PM are here.
If you succeed in curing your clam of PM, if you dont treat all of your clams, you will re-infect your clam when you re-introduce it to your tank since it most likely was infected in the first place by one of your other clams. I would suggest treating all of your clams at the same time. I would also strongly suggest that you QT all incoming clams from here on out.
Nick
