"so Ed, how was your commute today?"

"It wasn't that bad until my car was attacked by lions and tigers"

Great excuse for being late for work thou' :D

which was what happen to me this morning...

that ice city is amazing, looks like lots of fun.

how was the skiing? have you ever skied anywhere else, like europe, or north america? how does it compare?

Looks great. Visiting Ice World is on my list of things to do, very cool.

I would like to know about the skiing as well. Do you have an close ups of the snow roof, its hard to see detail in the pictures.

Hope all is well and best of luck in the New Year.

Yeah, ice city was lot's of fun... like living in a huge freezer!!

The skiing was great but it's the 1st time for me to sky down a 1500m slope hill. The only other place I sky before is in Vancouver so can't really compare but this sky resort is the venue for the upcoming 24th Winter Universiade Games in Feb so I guess it's pretty good.

Accordingly to my friends who have been skying for a long time, they say the snow here is well press and not to hard and wet, unlike Vancouver where I sky is hard and wet and super slippery!!

They have snowboards too but was too chicken to try out!! :D

Hope you can see better the details of now the snow form layers on the roof. Apparently this is cause by 2 very different temperature winds blowing in that area (hot / cold)

very nice holiday:) :)

You should ask them to go...they will enjoy!! Once they have the proper cloths they will be fine. However, best to go before mid of Feb before the ice city start to melt away... :D

Latest FTS is on page 1 after the split. Nothing changes....will take a new one once I hook up my new lightings...

MORE COOLING PICTURES TO SHARE

MORE COOLING PICTURES TO SHARE

OK, to get this thread back on track, I got this right before my trip but have no time to share - this is Made-in-China Fan Cooling System and it’s perfect for my use!

FanCoolingSystem01.jpg

FanCoolingSystem02.jpg

FanCoolingSystem03.jpg

It comes in 2, 4 and 6 fans box sets but I choose 2 x 4 fan box series as this way I can used it to cool both my MH and T5 at the same time!

The two end clips can be adjusted at different angle so it’s easy to point it at any direction…

Comes with a simple ON/OFF switch with fixed fan speed thou’ but no big deal for me as I planned to have them running on timer and only power up when my first MH is activated and off when my last MH is off.

Did a run test of the fan and there is a gentle humming sound from the fan’s blade can be heard but I think once it’s in the canopy with my water swashing around, the sound will completely disappear. :D

Meanwhile, one of the clams (the one with the torn mantel) has become dinner for my fishes as only an empty shell was left. The remaining 3 clams seems to be adapting well and I think they will pull through as the colors are slowly coming back and they are spreading their mantel a lot more now!

BUT THE GREAT NEWS is my blue Maxima seem to have recovered from her ‘pinched mantel’

BlueMaxima-Normal.jpg

I now think it might not be a pinch mantel I was dealing with (don’t think I’m so lucky) but maybe just some fishes irritating her or maybe some salt creep or sand drop on her mantel!

Anyway, FWIW, I did a 30min FW dip for two straight days and also double up my dosage of Pohls Coral Snow and Sponge Power for two days, as this KZ product is great for filter feeders like clams, feather dusters, sponge, etc.

Sheesst…… I worry too much and to think I got into this hobby thinking it will help me relax and reduce my stress….YEAH RIGHT

:rolleye1:

Congrats on the split Ed. Those snow statue pictures look incredible.

It makes me want to visit China again. I've made a 4000 kilometer trip 1,5 year ago and I will visit China this spring again for at least a month. Can't wait!

Thanks also for your tank summary, I lost the overview a bit with 80 pages of info ;)

LATE CHRISTMAS FOR ME BUT….

LATE CHRISTMAS FOR ME BUT….

Well, they say “better late than never”

My orders from the US arrived before I left to icy-land but only got time to share now as there was tons of other priorities I need to handle first…

Besides…all the pictures were in the same CF card as my Harbin trip pictures so have to share those beautiful pictures first

HUGE box â€"œ the packing is amazingly well padded â€"œ Thank you Tom SoCal for the CARE and LOVE you put into this wonderful packaging…

First thing I did was to unpacked all the reflectors to check out for dents, etc and so far so good!!

LB Reflector in Packaging:

Tek2 T5 Reflector in Packaging:
Tek2Reflector02.jpg

There is a thin green film protecting inside of both the LB and Tek2 reflectors, which I did not removed yet. (will removed right before I hook them up to avoid unnecessary accidents)

LB Reflector with Green film partial removed:

Tek2 Reflector with Green film partial removed:

Both the LB and T5 reflectors have the same mirror finished. You can see how reflective the reflector is!!

Green was never my favorite color but this metallic Christmas green is very pleasing to the eyes. At least a better color in actual compare to the color on the box.

Love it when someone standby their product…

And these ballasts will be used to fire up those beauties…

Radium01.jpg

Inspect each bulb to ensure no damage during shipment!!

Radium03.jpg

All 3 bulbs seem to have the same ‘slightly burn-mark’ on them. I presume this is due to QC testing at the factory and maybe it will help reduce burn-in period too… anyone with experience care to comment?

Radium02.jpg

And a whole bunch of other stuff…

T5 endcap and holders:[/I]

Lamp cords, Cables & wires, etc:

Now I got to figure out how to put all those together??

However, my IceCap 660 ballast is not due to arrived for two weeks or so but at least I can start working on my light frame

:D

and more Zeovit stuff….

Apart from the rest, which are refills, I’m going to try a new product by Korallen-Zucht called ZEOzym, which was just out in Nov last year.

ZeoZym.jpg

It comes in 250g and 500g container but I order the 250g container to try out first. The below info is extract from their website but in summary it’s supposed to keep your sand bed clean by separating the protein from the sand bed to make it easier for the skimmer to capture and improved coral growth:

“Enzyme-based biological stimulant to promote increased bacterial metabolism”
• Amplifies the effect of ZEObak.
• Stimulates the biological control of slime algae (Cyanobacteria).
• Enhances skimming performance
• Disbarment of harmful substances
• Improves coral growth enormously.

Can be used for Zeo and non-Zeo System too…

Will keep everyone update how this product works for me!! Review in a month’s time so stay tune…..

Absolutely correct! I've read of aquarists complaining that they've received used lamps before upon seeing the test burn.

I need to find and used what's available locally. Been searching and so far can't find anything I fancy
