I'm guessing that fish is a Peppermint Hogfish.

That's the first time I've seen a probe with that connection. The BNC has been the defacto connection for many years. Perhaps that is the kind the new APEX controller uses?

Yeah could be - that's why I was caught off guard as I thought BNC was a 'standard'??

Oh well, now I got to deal with this :rolleye1:

Ed, I'm curious about your tilefish and anthias. How are they doing?

Well as of last night inventory count all anthias accounted for but the 'red fish' my driver said carpet surf on me unfortunately was my Skunk Tilefish...

The other remaining Skunk Tilefish and the other pair of Purple Tilefish is still around :D

Heeeey guys, I got my 5 Star rating for my thread.

Thanks to those who voted lol

Guess now this brings this build thread to the same level as my old build thread

HOLY GRAIL OF HOGFISH

HOLY GRAIL OF HOGFISH

I got lucky and manage to get myself the Holy Grail of the hogfish clan - Bodianus masudai (Peppermint Hog)

PeppermintHogWrasse02.jpg

I'm like looking for one like FOREVER and over the weekend this just showed up!! I just can't believe my luck"¦"¦..

This is a quote from The Marine Center:

"œAvailability of the Peppermint Hog is highly unpredictable and they sell in an instant! Be prepared to jump on it immediately when one becomes available. Everybody wants this fish! The Holy Grail of the clan, this spectacular and hardy hogfish is a great aquarium fish. Average available size is about 2"-3"."

This evening when I'm back from work, there is no sign of my Peppermint hog?? Not sure if he is still in hiding or fearing the worst??

Will give it a few days and let's see"¦

May be hiding, waiting for feeding time.

I hope so but as of this morning still MIA

Looking great Ed. Did you ever get your D. algae wiped out?
Your over due with a full tank shot. Your corals are coloring up nicely

Dinos are gone so far but still got some diatoms on the sand bed which I'm not concern as it will go away eventually as the tanks matures :D

Sorry for chiming in late on this thread, Ed! Been doing LOTS of travelling!

And, yes, I am absolutely drooling over your new system!

I do feature a number of shots of the old tank in my talk...It's a textbook example of what to do when designing and building a truly original system. Inspiration and execution combine for a true piece of living art. Inspiring for all. I'm proud to feature your work!

I have to tell ya- the amount of positive feedback I get about your tank in my talks is great! As you may recall, we share very similar philosophies on design, aquascaping, and overall aesthetic.

Keep up the amazing work, and I'll keep featuring it for you over here in the States! Thanks again for letting me feature it in my presentation!

Continued success, my friend (and more pics anytime!)! If I'm in your "neck of the woods" during my travel, don't be surprised if I show up at your door with a camera in tow! LOL

Hi Scott - been a while indeed and glad you could find time to drop by despite your busy travel schedule.

Yeah I heard about your successful presentation - too bad I could not be there to hear it but heard it was a roaring success. Any chance of sharing a copy of it??

A lot of people is comparing both this new system and the previous 295-g and I must say both is different and yet unique in their own way IMO. I enjoy both builds and hopefully this time I can have time to allow this system to mature....
