Hi Ed,
Been a while since I posted but I thought I would throw my 2 cents in regarding the Eunicids worm. I had corals randomnly disappearing in my tank for months until one night I saw what appeared to be a monster of "la chupacabra"ian proportions that was chowing down on one of my favorite SPS. I tried skewering it with a screw driver I had on hand but it was simply to quick.
Since then 3 fish have disappeared as well as significant damage to a large purple zoa colony, some Zenia, and a number of SPS. I saw it again last night and from its position hovering above my sand sifter I would bet the it was hunting my poor Goby.
Luckily I've sold off my tank anyways to tomorrow will be dedicated to hunting it down.
My best advice is to destroy anything that even resembles this beast before it gets big enough to do some serious damage.
BTW.... The tank looks awesome! Truly inspiring and definitely shaping up to be a work of art. Congratulations.

BTW, I went to the Southeastern Reef Conference this week end
it was very interesting, Bob Fenner talked about hitchhikers, Eric Borneman talked about creating the ideal reef aquarium and Scott Fellman talked about aquascaping for the aesthetically challenged, I was impressed to see how many examples he used that were of your 1st build! It almost seemed like he spoke to you about your entire set up! he talked about the golden ratio you described, the planning of your rocks, PVC you used, the list went on & on............................
Is Scott Fellman really you?????
JK.......
Anyway your aquascaping skills were definitely the showcase for his seminar.

Hhhmmmm didn't know that!! Got a copy of the presentation?? Will be great to see/ hear what they present lol. Some while ago Scott did ask if he could used soem of my 1st build pictures for his presentation but that was like a year ago so never did see what he did with it thou'
Good thing people is starting to talk more about the aquascaping as there is just not enough info on this IMO.
Maybe if he sees my new build thread now, he will talk about cabinet design

After the lights were off last night, I found something wriggling on my glass panel. I quickly went and net it out and try to take some pictures.

At first I thought it was a peanut worm but upon close inspection it does not look like any worm I’ve seen. It is about 1.5cm long but very very skinny and wriggle almost non-stop â€"œ almost like a snake or a very active fish.
It also has a head and 2 black eyes and what seem like caterpillar feet. I’m unsuccessful trying to capture a picture of his head as he moves all the time.

No, sorry I don't have a copy of the presentation.....
I guess Scott must be doing the same presentation for a year now???? or maybe just improving his skills for a year now......
Your right on the aquascaping, its no longer just building a rock wall.....
There should be a lot of planning before you build.....
That was the point!
I was wondering if he has seen your new thread as well...

Ed,
I have to agree with the others who said this specimen appears to be a Bristle worm...they usually come out when the tank is being fed. In moderate numbers, they are good scavengers, but I had a heavily fed (seahorse) tank, where they became a blight - thousands of them in 120G. They would really annoy the zoanthid and other LPS colonies by hiding in and around the polyps...
However, when I was doing a RO/DI dip to get rid of bristleworms before transferring coral and LR to my new tank, I came across this bugger, which is NOT a bristleworm. I am still looking for an ID on this creature:

Any suggestions?

I feel like somewhere on here I saw use of Eheim compact + pump. I know you have all airstar now, but I was considering using two compact 3000 l/h as my returns on my display. My only hesitation is the screws on the volute. Do you happen to know what these are made of?
and is this part of the reason you removed the pump? ... or was it just a little too plain for your style?
I am trying to wait for redesigned Red Dragon, but if it comes down to waiting to set up on the return pump I will probably just go with two eheim.
Beautifiul system too![]()

It looks like a feather duster worm without the crown of feathers.

guess what showed up at my door yesterday... no worries on the turnaround, I got the new red dragon... pretty cool. I was about to call up atb, but I am glad my new skimmer and pump match. Now that RC is back up sigh of relief and carry on with your build!

Ed, did the 3 day lights out period work for you? Im trying out a 48 hour lights out period on my tank to help fight dinoflageate algae. During this period im stopping zeostart2 dosing. Also im dosing 3ml coral snow mixed with 4 drops zeobak. Im trying hard to fight this dinoflageate algae, its completely covering my sand bed
Please let me know if you think I should do a 72 hour no light period rather than 48 hour?
What worked for you to battle the dinoflageate algae? Please let me know
thanks
